Peter Criss New Solo Album Announced

Peter Criss Announces Self-Titled Solo Album: Original KISS Drummer’s Rock Comeback with John 5, Billy Sheehan & Paul Shaffer – Out December 19, 2025

The Catman is back – and he’s clawing his way into the rock spotlight like it’s 1974 all over again. Original KISS drummer Peter Criss, the voice behind timeless anthems like “Beth” and “Black Diamond,” has officially announced his first solo album in 18 years: a self-titled powerhouse simply called Peter Criss, dropping December 19, 2025 via Flatiron Records and Silver Cat Records.

Co-produced by Criss and Barry Pointer (Ozzy Osbourne, MÖTLEY CRÜE, John 5), this 11-track beast is billed as Peter’s “most rock-driven solo album ever” – a raw, New York swagger-fueled return to form blending hard-hitting riffs, big band soul, and that unmistakable Catman fire. It’s the perfect holiday gift for Kiss Army loyalists, arriving just in time to soundtrack your end-of-year revelry.

The Catman’s Comeback Story: 18 Years in the Making

Peter Criss first teased this project back in April 2025, promising Kiss Army a “new rock and roll album coming out in the fall” during an interview on The Rock Experience with Mike Brunn. Fast-forward to Halloween 2025, and the spooky promo video dropped the bombshell date, labels, and now – full details.

It’s been nearly two decades since Peter’s last solo effort, One For All (2007), which he self-produced with guests like Paul Shaffer and Will Lee. Before that? Iconic ’70s solo LPs tied to KISS’s legendary simultaneous releases, including his gold-certified self-titled debut featuring “Beth.”

Peter’s KISS legacy is etched in greasepaint: Founding member (1973), original drummer on seven albums, lead vocals on hits like “Beth” (Billboard No. 7), “Black Diamond,” and “Hard Luck Woman.” Stints in the band spanned 1980 exits/reunions through 2004, before Eric Singer took the throne. Offstage, he’s battled personal demons, emerged stronger, and now – at 79 – roars back with unapologetic rock.

Recent poignancy: Peter attended the memorial for his longtime KISS bandmate Ace Frehley (who passed October 16, 2025, at 74 after a studio fall). “My wife and I were with him till the end. I love you my brother,” Peter shared on his site – a heartfelt reminder of the bonds fueling this fire.

“Peter Criss represents the Catman’s return to form… his most rock driven solo album ever.” – Official Album Statement
