Thrash Legends Preview First New Music in Years with 30-Second Clip Ahead of Farewell Tour
Megadeth, the thrash metal pioneers, have teased their new single “Tipping Point”, the lead track from their final studio album, set for release on October 3, 2025. The 30-second preview clip, shared on social media today, September 25, 2025, features Dave Mustaine‘s groaning vocals over sharp thrash riffs that build to a halt, hinting at a classic Megadeth sound. This marks the band’s first new music since The Sick, The Dying… and the Dead! (2022), leading into a global farewell tour in 2026. Pre-orders launch September 27, 2025—watch the teaser HERE and get ready for the end of an era!

Tipping Point: A Teaser of Thrash’s Last Stand
The clip opens with Mustaine’s low-timbre growl, layered over precise, low-tuned riffs that evoke Peace Sells… But Who’s Buying? (1986). It cuts abruptly, leaving fans craving more—this is Megadeth at their rawest, blending thrash speed with Mustaine’s signature snarl. As their 17th full-length, the album—produced by James “Jimbo” Barton—features new guitarist Teemu Mäntysaari (replacing Kiko Loureiro since 2023). Mustaine announced the “final” LP in August 2025, tying it to a farewell tour capping their career.
Megadeth’s Legacy: From Peace Sells to the End
Since 1983, Megadeth—Mustaine (vocals/guitar), David Ellefson (bass, 1983-2021, now James LoMenzo), Kiko Loureiro (guitar, 2015-2023, now Mäntysaari), and Dirk Verbeuren (drums)—have sold 38 million albums, earned a Grammy (2017 for Dystopia), and shaped thrash with albums like Rust in Peace (1990). Peace Sells (1986) was MTV’s soundtrack, its bassline a cultural staple. The final album, title TBA, follows The Sick, The Dying… and the Dead! (No. 3 Billboard 200, 2022)
Farewell Tour and What’s Next
The 2026 farewell tour will span Europe/UK (supporting Disturbed) and North America, with dates TBA. Mustaine’s memoir drops next year, chronicling his journey.
