Canadian Roots Rock Powerhouse Drops Groovy Soul Anthem and Announces Tour with Dan Patlansky

Bywater Call, the Toronto-based seven-piece roots rock and soul outfit, has released their first studio single of 2025, “Hold Me Down”, on September 24, 2025. This feel-good, groovy soul anthem—a cheeky plea to a faltering love—is now streaming on all platforms via linktr.ee/bywatercall. Watch the music video HERE. The track arrives ahead of their third UK tour in November 2025, with special guest Dan Patlansky. Tickets available at thegigcartel.com and bywatercall.com—get yours now!

Hold Me Down: A Classic Soul Revival

“Hold Me Down”, reminiscent of 60s soul with modern twists from Alabama Shakes and Amy Winehouse, showcases Meghan Parnell‘s sultry, gritty vocals over punchy horn shots and a James Gadson-inspired high-hat pulse. Guitarist Dave Barnes says, “I wanted to mesh Bywater Call’s aesthetic with 60s soul—then Meg came up with that first note, and it took on a life of its own.” Recorded at Palace Studios, Toronto, captured and mixed by Patric McGroarty, and mastered by Kristian Montano, the video by Zack Murray of Lightning House Media captures the band’s dynamic interplay.
