Who are the headliners at Tons of Rock 2027?
Wednesday belongs to Mötley Crüe. Vince Neil, Nikki Sixx, Tommy Lee and John 5 have spent the last few years proving the glam metal machine still has plenty of fuel, and an outdoor festival slot in the Norwegian summer evening light is exactly where songs like Kickstart My Heart and Dr. Feelgood belong. If you want a taste of what to expect, read our review of Mötley Crüe’s surprise-packed night at Hellfest, or brush up on the band’s history with our definitive guide to the glam metal legends. Norwegian black metal heavyweights Satyricon bring a very different kind of darkness to the same day, with Simple Plan and thrash veterans Overkill adding plenty of variety.
Thursday is arguably the most eclectic day of the week. Turnstile, the Baltimore band who have taken hardcore to arenas, sit alongside German power metal giants Helloween and Southern rock royalty Lynyrd Skynyrd. Amon Amarth’s Viking spectacle is almost tailor-made for a Scandinavian crowd, while Motionless In White and I Prevail fly the flag for modern metalcore. Swedish rap-metal favourites Clawfinger complete a day that covers almost every corner of heavy music.
Friday sees Faith No More top the bill, a huge coup for the festival and a first Tons of Rock appearance for Mike Patton and co. Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators bring the riffs and the hits, Pierce The Veil add a younger edge, and Norwegian favourites OnklP & De Fjerne Slektningene and Seigmen will guarantee huge home crowd singalongs. GWAR on the same bill means anyone standing near the front should probably not wear anything they love.
Saturday closes the festival with a double dose of classic heavy metal. Scorpions and Judas Priest on the same day is a proper bucket-list pairing: Rock You Like a Hurricane and Breaking the Law in one evening. German thrash legends Kreator, Swedish black metal outfit Watain, Oslo’s own Oslo Ess and stoner-doom heroes Green Lung round out a heavyweight finale.
How much are Tons of Rock 2027 tickets?
The four-day festival pass costs NOK 4,499 including an NOK 89 fee, which works out at roughly £320-£330 depending on the exchange rate. The early bird allocation has already sold out, and the festival has warned that prices will rise over time and that festival passes are limited. For context, passes for the 2026 edition sold out before New Year.
Day passes for each of the four days go on presale for newsletter subscribers on Thursday 22 October 2026 at 10:00 Norwegian time (9am UK), with general sale from Friday 23 October. Day pass prices have not been confirmed yet; in 2026 they started from NOK 1,499. VIP tickets and camping passes will follow at a later date. Camping is sold separately and does not include festival entry, and the campsite is 18+.
Where should you buy Tons of Rock tickets safely?
Only buy through the official channels: Ticketmaster Norway (ticketmaster.no), Live Nation Norway (livenation.no) and the festival’s own tickets page, which links straight through to Ticketmaster. Tickets are digital and live in your Ticketmaster account or app.
Be wary of social media sellers and unofficial resale sites, especially once the festival pass sells out. Fake tickets for big European festivals are common, and tickets are only refunded if the whole festival is cancelled, not if individual bands pull out. The festival does say it is fine if the name on a ticket differs from yours, as ID at the gate is used to issue the right wristband for your age.
How do you get to Tons of Rock from the UK?
Oslo is one of the easiest European festival trips from the UK. There are direct flights to Oslo Gardermoen (OSL) from London Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted, plus Manchester, Edinburgh and several other regional airports, with flight times of around two hours. Book early, as late June is peak season.
From Gardermoen, the Flytoget airport express train and the cheaper regional trains reach Oslo Central Station in around 20-25 minutes. Ekebergsletta sits on the hill just south-east of the city centre, and the Ekeberg trams run from the centre in about ten minutes, or you can walk it in roughly half an hour. Staying in the city centre and heading up each day is a popular option for UK fans who would rather skip camping.
A word on budget: Oslo is expensive, so factor in food, drink and accommodation costs. Hotels fill fast around festival week, and the long Nordic summer evenings mean it barely gets dark, which is all part of the magic.
How does Tons of Rock compare with UK festivals?
Tons of Rock runs a couple of weeks after Download, so it makes a great second festival for anyone who wants more. You can compare the bills with our Download line up 2027 coverage. Ekebergsletta has a reputation for being compact, easy to get around and close to a capital city, which is very different from a muddy weekend at Donington.
