Panic Shack’s “Pockets” Is the Punk Anthem for Every Pocketless Night Out
Welsh punk quintet Panic Shack have released a new video for “Pockets,” the latest single from their self-titled debut album — and it’s a gloriously chaotic ode to one of the most infuriating first-world problems of our time: the absence of functional pockets in women’s jeans.
Filmed during their Don’t Quit Your Day Job Tour, the video is a sweaty, glitter-smeared montage of live footage, fan chaos, and backstage antics. Directed by Ren Faulkner with additional shots by Meziane Lotmani, it’s a visual love letter to the band’s community — a celebration of the fans who scream every lyric and the bandmates who live every beat like it’s their last.
No Pockets, No Peace
“Pockets” opens with a spoken-word tirade that’s part stand-up, part feminist manifesto. Vocalist Sarah Harvey delivers lines like “I’m streamlined, I’m fast as f*ck / I’m smooth like a dolphin, I’m aerodynamic” with the kind of swagger that makes you want to throw your vape in the air and start a revolution. It’s funny, sharp, and painfully relatable — a punk-rock rant about the absurdity of fashion that prioritizes aesthetics over practicality.

The chorus — “VAPE, PHONE, KEYS, LIPGLOSS” — becomes a rallying cry for every gig-goer who’s ever had to stuff essentials into a bra or clutch because their jeans were designed for decoration, not function.
Live Energy, Unfiltered
We’ve already seen firsthand how Panic Shack thrive in a live setting — their set at The Bodega was a masterclass in controlled chaos, and this video captures that same raw electricity. The footage pulses with the kind of energy that only comes from cramped venues, sticky floors, and fans who know every word. You see the sweat, the laughter, the chaos — and you feel like you’re right there in the pit.

It’s not polished, and that’s the point. Panic Shack aren’t here to be pristine. They’re here to be authentic, loud, and unapologetically themselves. The video captures the band’s chemistry — Meg Fretwell and Romi Lawrence trading riffs and grins, Emily Smith holding down the groove, and Nick Doherty-Williams pounding out rhythms that feel like heartbeats.

A Debut That Delivers
“Pockets” is the final preview before the album drops on July 18th via Brace Yourself Records, and it’s a fitting closer to a string of singles that have already made waves — from the tongue-in-cheek “Gok Wan” to the riotous “Girl Band Starter Pack.” Engineered by Patrick Phillips and produced by Ali Chant, the album promises 11 breakneck tracks that never let up.

We’ve already given the album a glowing 10/10 review, and “Pockets” only reinforces that verdict. It’s a punk-pop powder keg — full of wit, fury, and the kind of hooks that lodge themselves in your brain like glitter in your hair after a night out.

With sold-out record store appearances and a packed tour schedule across the UK and Europe, Panic Shack are riding a wave of well-earned hype. They’ll be hitting Nottingham’s Rescue Rooms on October 18th, and if the “Pockets” video is anything to go by, it’s going to be one hell of a night.
So grab your vape, phone, keys, and lipgloss — and maybe a bag, because let’s face it, your jeans probably still don’t have pockets.
