When is Lita Ford’s “Dracula” released?
“Dracula” arrives on Tuesday 27 October 2026, four days before Halloween, and you can pre-save it now on your favourite streaming service. It is the first single from a new Lita Ford album, and the first music she will release on Frontiers.
Lita has been teasing the song on her Facebook and Instagram pages with short clips, and the artwork tells you everything about the mood. A gothic iron gate, a cross and a blood-red sky set the scene for what looks like her darkest record yet. Lita herself signed off the announcement with a warning: “Good Night. Good Bye.. Prepare To Die ‘DRACULA’!! Brace yourself.”
Why has Lita Ford signed to Frontiers?
Lita says the new album has been a long time in the making, and she wanted the right label behind it. “It’s been a long journey to create this magical dark fairytale album for everyone to enjoy,” she said. “I needed the perfect team to make that happen and to help give this powerful record a life it deserves. I am so happy to say I have officially sealed the deal with Frontiers Music Srl, as we are thrilled, excited and ready to rise with the 1st new single on October 27th, 2026.”
Jeff Stevenson, GM of Frontiers Label Group, is just as excited. “We are incredibly proud to welcome Lita Ford to the Frontiers Label Group family,” he said. “Lita is a true rock icon, an artist whose influence, musicianship, and unmistakable attitude have inspired generations of fans and musicians around the world. Beyond her extraordinary legacy, what excites us most is that Lita continues to look forward creatively.”
The Italian label has become home to a huge roster of classic hard rock and melodic rock names, and it is a natural fit. Frontiers also looks after blues rock guitar hero Jared James Nichols, who has just announced a European tour for 2027.
Who plays on the new Lita Ford single?
“Dracula” was recorded as a tight three-piece. Lita handles vocals and guitar, with Gary Hoey on guitar and production duties and Bobby Rock on drums. Gary Hoey is a respected guitarist in his own right, known for his instrumental rock records and his hit take on “Hocus Pocus”. Bobby Rock is a hard-hitting drummer best known for his work with Vinnie Vincent Invasion and Nelson.
The mix is by Max Norman, a name that will mean a lot to metal fans. He worked on classic Ozzy Osbourne albums including Blizzard Of Ozz and Diary Of A Madman, and on Megadeth’s Countdown To Extinction. With that team behind it, “Dracula” should hit hard.
How did Lita Ford start her career?
Born in London, Lita moved to the United States as a child and picked up the guitar at 11. In 1976 she became lead guitarist of The Runaways, the groundbreaking all-female rock band behind “Cherry Bomb” and “Queens Of Noise”. The band split in 1979, and while bandmate Joan Jett went on to her own success, Lita built a career as one of the most influential women in hard rock and heavy metal.
Her solo debut, Out For Blood, came out in 1983, followed by Dancin’ On The Edge in 1984, which included “Gotta Let Go”. Then came the big one. Her 1988 self-titled album Lita went platinum and gave the world “Kiss Me Deadly” and “Close My Eyes Forever”, her duet with Ozzy Osbourne. “Close My Eyes Forever” became a top ten hit in America and is still her most streamed song by a long way, with more than 100 million plays on Spotify.
What are Lita Ford’s best albums?
For most fans, Lita is the place to start. It is packed with big choruses, sharp riffs and the kind of polish that defined late-80s hard rock. If you like that, Stiletto (1990) and Dangerous Curves (1991) carry on in the same style, with songs like “Shot Of Poison” and “Playin’ With Fire”.
Later records showed a heavier side. Black took her in a grungier direction in the mid-90s, while Wicked Wonderland and Living Like A Runaway (2012) brought her back with a modern metal edge. Living Like A Runaway was widely seen as a return to form and is a great way into her later work. She is Grammy-nominated too, and fans of 80s rock will find plenty to love in both eras. If you grew up on the Sunset Strip sound, our definitive guide to Motley Crue covers the scene she helped shape.
Why is Lita Ford called the First Lady of Rock Guitar?
Lita was one of the first women to stand in front of a hard rock band as a genuine guitar hero, trading solos with anyone. Guitar Player magazine has honoured her with a Lifetime Achievement Award, its Certified Legend Award and a place in the Guitar Player Hall of Fame. In 2017 she was named the First Lady of Rock Guitar at the She Rocks Awards.
Her famous B.C. Rich Warlock guitar has even found its way into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s permanent collection. Away from music, she has appeared in film, television and video games, and her 2016 memoir, Living Like A Runaway, became a bestseller. It is a brilliant read for anyone who wants the real story of being a woman in 70s and 80s rock.
Halloween is shaping up to be a great one for shock rock fans this year. Alongside “Dracula”, Alice Cooper has hit number one with Devil On My Shoulder.
