What does Piet Sielck say about “Climbing Higher”?

Sielck makes no secret of the fact that “Climbing Higher” is the most radio-friendly moment on the record, and he is proud of it. “For sure another hit single,” he said. “‘Climbing Higher’ is probably the most commercial song on the album. Of course, those kind of tunes always risk to be cheesy and to disappear as fast as they have risen… But this one has something special that, at least for me, makes it one of the strongest tracks.”

He added: “Even though the song is commercial, it’s full of honest emotions blended together with catchy melodies… I love this song!”

It is a big, uplifting anthem built for a singalong, and it works as a motivational boost in the middle of a record that is otherwise packed with space battles and speed metal. It sits at track seven on the album, right after “To Boldly Go”.

When is Iron Savior’s Deathbringer album released?

Deathbringer comes out on Friday 13 November 2026 through Frontiers Music, the band’s new label home after their years with AFM Records and, most recently, Reigning Phoenix Music. It will be available on CD and as a blue transparent double vinyl, and pre-orders are open now through the Frontiers UK store.

The new album follows a busy spell for the band. They completed the third instalment of their Reforged series, which saw Iron Savior completely re-record the songs from their Noise Records era, and released the covers album Awesome Anthems Of The Galaxy in March 2026, which included a power metal take on a-ha’s “Take On Me”. Deathbringer is the first set of all-new Iron Savior songs since Firestar in 2023.

What is the Deathbringer concept story about?

With Deathbringer, Iron Savior go back to the sci-fi concept album format that has been part of their DNA since the beginning. The story picks up after 200 years of peace, with the galaxy once again on the brink. The Shadows, an insectoid species and ancient enemy of mankind, have returned.

Aboard the gigantic Deathbringer vessel, their immortal Queen has kept the last remnants of her species alive inside an eternal digital hive, fed by the life force of countless worlds. Now the Iron Savior and the Alliance must face an enemy more powerful than ever before. Fans of the band’s long-running space saga will feel right at home, and the striking cover art, with its huge battleship cutting through a purple nebula, sets the scene perfectly.

What is the Deathbringer tracklist?

  1. Shadows Of Neverness
  2. Deathbringer
  3. Light In The Dark
  4. The Creature’s Tale
  5. Back From The Fires Of Hell
  6. To Boldly Go
  7. Climbing Higher
  8. No Deal (bonus track)
  9. Dawn Of Deliverance
  10. Gunslinger
  11. Never To Yield
  12. Forever And A Day
  13. Fever (bonus track, Judas Priest cover)

The fast, high-energy title track is built to grab you straight away, while “Light In The Dark” heads into melodic speed metal territory. The stomping “The Creature’s Tale” is another standout, and the album closes with a cover of Judas Priest’s “Fever”, from 1982’s Screaming For Vengeance, as a bonus track.

Why is “Back From The Fires Of Hell” so personal for Piet Sielck?

“Back From The Fires Of Hell” was the first single from Deathbringer, and its title deliberately echoes “Through The Fires Of Hell” from Firestar. For Sielck, it carries real weight. “I wrote the first lyrics before I received my cancer diagnosis… Then poetry turned into bitter reality… Although in a different way than I had originally imagined,” he said.

“We went through this together… ‘Through The Fires Of Hell’ is therefore more like poetry dedicated to my wife, while ‘Back From The Fires Of Hell’ is more of a reflection on actual events.” Hearing him now sounding so excited about a song like “Climbing Higher” makes that story all the more uplifting.

Who is in Iron Savior in 2026?

Iron Savior began in Hamburg in 1996 as a project for Sielck, who was already well known as a guitarist and as the producer behind some of German power metal’s biggest records. Over three decades it has grown into a settled four-piece:

  • Piet Sielck – lead vocals and guitars
  • Joachim “Piesel” Kustner – guitars
  • Patrick Opitz – bass
  • Patrick Klose – drums

As always, Sielck produced, mixed and mastered the album himself at his own Powerhouse Studio in Hamburg, and he wrote all the music and lyrics. Their best-known anthem, “Heavy Metal Never Dies”, has racked up more than 15 million streams on Spotify on its own.
