Glenn Tipton Parkinson’s Donation 2026
Judas Priest legend Glenn Tipton has once again shown his incredible strength and generosity by donating £250,000 through The Glenn Tipton Parkinson’s Foundation to Imperial College London — the very hospital where he is receiving treatment for Parkinson’s Disease.
The donation, announced in early 2026, brings the total funds given by the charity to Imperial College to £480,000 and will directly support pioneering research into MR-guided Focused Ultrasound (MRgFUS) — a non-invasive brain surgery technique aimed at significantly reducing tremor and other physical symptoms of Parkinson’s.
A Personal Mission to Fight Parkinson’s
Glenn Tipton was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease in 2015. Rather than stepping away quietly, he turned his diagnosis into action, establishing The Glenn Tipton Parkinson’s Foundation to fund cutting-edge treatment research.
The majority of the charity’s funds have come from fans purchasing special merchandise during Judas Priest tours, a powerful example of a global metal community rallying behind one of its icons.
What the £250,000 Donation Will Fund
The money will support a major study into MR-guided Focused Ultrasound (MRgFUS) brain surgery for Parkinson’s, led by Professor Peter Bain, Consultant & Professor in Clinical Neurology at Imperial College London — the same specialist treating Glenn.
Professor Bain said:
“This is a wonderful donation, which we plan to use for doing a study of Magnetic Resonance Guided Focused Ultrasound brain surgery for the treatment of the tremor and other symptoms of Parkinson’s, with an end goal of making this treatment available for people with Parkinson’s on the NHS.”
Glenn Tipton added his own powerful message:
“We will beat this awful disease – United We Stand…”
Glenn Tipton – Heavy Metal Icon & Parkinson’s Fighter

Best known as the lead guitarist of Judas Priest — one of the most influential heavy metal bands of all time — Glenn has co-written many of the band’s classic songs including “Painkiller”, “Electric Eye”, “The Sentinel” and “Turbo Lover”.
Despite stepping back from full-time touring in 2018 due to Parkinson’s, Glenn has remained an active and vital part of Judas Priest, contributing to albums and making occasional live appearances with the band.
His courage in publicly fighting Parkinson’s while continuing to inspire fans has turned him into a beacon of hope for people living with the condition around the world.
How to Support The Glenn Tipton Parkinson’s Foundation
Fans can continue to help by purchasing official charity merchandise during Judas Priest tours, donating directly via the foundation’s website, or simply spreading awareness of MRgFUS research.
Every pound raised brings the dream of NHS-funded, non-invasive Parkinson’s treatment closer to reality.
United We Stand.
