A Strategic Re-recording in Response to Lost Masters
Five Finger Death Punch are commemorating their 20-year reign in hard rock with 20 Years of Five Finger Death Punch – Best Of Volume 1, landing July 18 via Better Noise Music. But this isn’t just a career retrospective—it’s an act of defiance, a reclamation of creative control, and a celebration of the fans who forged the band’s legacy.

The album is a direct response to the band’s original master recordings being sold by their former label—a move done without their knowledge or consent. “We would’ve loved to reclaim our masters, or at least be involved in the transaction,” says founding guitarist Zoltan Bathory. “But we found out after the fact. Surprised, but not surprised.”
That sense of disillusionment isn’t unfamiliar territory for the band, but rather than stew in frustration, they chose to strike back. Inspired by Taylor Swift’s bold approach to reclaiming her catalogue, Five Finger Death Punch took their own path—re-recording 14 of their biggest hits with fresh intensity. “Life is a chess game,” Bathory added. “We have one of the most hardcore and loyal fan bases on the planet so I know our fans will do the same.”
Reimagining the Sound of a Generation
The album features re-recorded versions of smash singles that have defined FFDP’s sound and positioned them among the most streamed and certified rock bands in the world. These new renditions aren’t remixes or remasters—they’re full studio re-recordings made with the purpose of honoring the legacy while evolving the sound.
Alongside these familiar anthems are three previously unreleased live recordings, captured at peak intensity and included as bonus material. The first single, “I Refuse,” now features a blistering guest vocal performance from Maria Brink of In This Moment—a longtime fan-favorite reimagined for a new era.
