Grammy-nominated metal titans Lamb of God have surprise-released a studio recording of their cover of Black Sabbath’s “Children of the Grave,” available now on all DSPs. The release follows their electrifying live debut of the track last night, July 5, at Back to the Beginning, Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath’s final show at Birmingham’s Villa Park.
“Lamb of God’s ‘Children of the Grave’ cover honors metal’s roots—2025’s must-hear tribute!”
The performance joined a legendary lineup including Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Tool, and Mastodon, culminating in a final bow from Ozzy and Black Sabbath.

A Tribute to Metal’s Pioneers
Lead guitarist Mark Morton calls the invitation to perform at Sabbath’s farewell “one of the greatest honors of our career.” He notes, “As an offering to the celebration, we’ve recorded our take on their classic ‘Children of the Grave,’ a protest song with lyrics as relevant today as in 1971.” Morton credits Black Sabbath with inventing heavy metal, a genre that “changed the world” and brings joy to fans globally, a sentiment echoed by the band’s gratitude for their metal community.
Legacy and Momentum
Lamb of God, featuring Randy Blythe (vocals), John Campbell (bass), Mark Morton (guitar), Willie Adler (guitar), and Art Cruz (drums), are wrapping up their tenth studio album, succeeding the 2022 critically acclaimed Omens, which hit #1 on the Top Hard Rock Albums chart and marked their sixth consecutive Top 15 Billboard 200 debut. Their live dominance shines through sold-out tours supporting Omens across the US, Canada, and Europe, plus opening for Pantera and co-headlining with Mastodon. Last night’s set underscored their unrelenting force in metal.
