John Fogerty’s Glastonbury 2025 Triumph: An 80-Year-Old Rock God Steals the Show

John Fogerty transformed Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage into a swamp-rock cathedral, delivering a jaw-dropping hour-long set from 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM that left 200,000 festival-goers roaring. At 80, the Creedence Clearwater Revival icon, backed by his sons Shane and Tyler, unleashed a masterclass of raw soul and timeless hits, proving age is just a number in the face of rock ‘n’ roll immortality.

John Fogerty’s Glastonbury set was a swamp-rock revelation—pure, unfiltered legend

Outshining headliners like Neil Young and The 1975, Fogerty’s performance was a nostalgic powerhouse that redefined the festival’s Saturday lineup, blending CCR anthems with solo gems in a way that’ll echo at Worthy Farm for years.

A Setlist That Rewrote History

Fogerty, now owning his Creedence catalog, kicked off with Up Around the Bend and closed with the same anthem, bookending a set that included Green River, Born on the Bayou, Who’ll Stop the Rain, Lookin’ Out My Back Door, Fight Fire, Keep On Chooglin’, Have You Ever Seen the Rain?, Cotton Fields, Down on the Corner, The Old Man Down the Road, Fortunate Son, Bad Moon Rising, and Proud Mary. The crowd erupted for each hit, with Fortunate Son’s rebellious pulse and Proud Mary’s rolling energy shaking Somerset. Shane’s guitar duets added a fresh edge, while the rare Fight Fire (a Golliwogs gem) and Lead Belly’s Cotton Fields delighted diehards. Fans praised the nonstop flow, a stark contrast to Deftones’ cancellation, replaced by Skepta’s 9 PM slot.

Voice and Vibe: A Legend’s Grit

Was his voice great? No, but the guy is 80 and a living legend, so it’s fair to cut him some well-earned slack. Early murmurs on X suggested a “shot voice,” yet Fogerty’s gravelly tenor rallied, cutting through the Pyramid Stage’s vast soundscape with tracks like Fortunate Son, pulsing with its 1969 Woodstock rebellion, and Who’ll Stop the Rain, offering a poignant, rain-soaked resonance under Glastonbury’s unpredictable skies. His sons’ backing vocals and guitar work bridged generations, turning the stage into a family affair that mirrored the festival’s eclectic spirit. At 80, Fogerty outkicked younger acts, his stamina and charm leaving the crowd chanting long after the hour ended.

Glastonbury Context: A Legend Among Icons

Fogerty’s set slotted perfectly between The Script and a mysterious “Patchwork” act, stealing thunder from Neil Young’s 10 PM headline slot and Charli XCX’s Other Stage takeover. The 2025 lineup, featuring Rod Stewart’s Legends Slot and Olivia Rodrigo’s Sunday headline, leaned heavily on veteran rockers, but Fogerty’s raw energy outshone the “ageing veterans” label. His return, 18 years after his 2007 no-encore rebellion, felt like a victory lap, especially with recent rights reclamation fueling a catalog revival. The BBC’s live stream on iPlayer amplified his reach, drawing global eyes to Worthy Farm’s biggest stage.

Fogerty Owned Glastonbury 2025

John Fogerty didn’t just perform—he conquered. His set was a masterstroke of nostalgia and vitality, blending CCR’s swamp-rock roots with a live-wire presence that humbled the festival’s modern stars. From the opening riff of Up Around the Bend to the closing Proud Mary he turned 80 years into a badge of honor, not a limitation. Fans and critics alike hailed it as a weekend highlight, outpacing the buzz around TBA slots and newcomer sets. Stream Creedence Clearwater Revival and Fogerty’s solo hits on Spotify and relive a Glastonbury moment that’ll be talked about until 2026.
