Marshall Unveils Billie Joe Armstrong Signature Amp 1959BJA – First Artist Signature Amp in 14 Years
Marshall has officially unveiled its first artist signature amplifier in 14 years – the Billie Joe Armstrong 1959BJA Artist Signature.
The 100-watt all-valve head was developed in collaboration with Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong and is inspired by the iconic tone he achieved during the recording of the band’s breakthrough album Dookie. Fans first spotted a mysterious baby-blue Marshall head behind Billie Joe during Green Day’s performance at the 2026 Super Bowl, sparking months of speculation that has now been confirmed.
Available from 21 July 2026 via authorised Marshall retailers and marshall.com, priced at £3,099.99.
The “Dookie Mod” Sound
The 1959BJA is built on Marshall’s legendary handwired 1959HW Super Lead platform, but features a custom “Dookie Mod” inspired by the modifications made to the amp used with producer Rob Cavallo during the Dookie sessions.
The result is a classic plexi with increased gain, tighter lows and the saturated punch that has defined Billie Joe Armstrong’s guitar sound for three decades – now refined for modern stage and studio use.
Billie Joe said: “I’m so overjoyed to have my own signature Marshall amp. These amps have been a part of my musical life, from my heroes down to little old me. Turn it the f**k up!!”
Steph Carter, Culture Marketing Director at Marshall, added: “Billie Joe’s guitar sound is instantly recognisable. From the moment you hear those opening chords on Dookie, you know exactly who it is. Working with Billie to create an amp that captures that punch, aggression and clarity was an incredible project for our team.”

Design Inspired by “Blue”
The amp pays tribute to Billie Joe’s first guitar, the famous blue Stratocaster known as “Blue”. It features a striking baby-blue covering with brass and silver panel details, custom branding, and Billie Joe’s signature on both the front and rear panels.
It is sold as a head-only unit so players can pair it with the cabinet of their choice.

Rock News final word: After months of Super Bowl speculation, Marshall has finally delivered Billie Joe Armstrong’s official signature amp. The 1959BJA looks and sounds the part – a proper Dookie-era plexi with modern refinements and a striking baby-blue finish that nods to his first guitar. At £3,099.99 it’s a serious investment, but for Green Day fans and tone chasers, this is as close as you can get to that legendary sound without borrowing Billie’s own rig.
