AK & The Red Kites Live at The Little Theatre, Chesham (Live Review)
Fresh from the release of their debut album Hotter Than The Sun, AK & The Red Kites lit up The Little Theatre with a performance that felt both celebratory and like the start of something much bigger.
A Fast Start with Cosmic Train
Opening with Cosmic Train, the band wasted no time setting the tone for the night, with gritty riffs, swaggering vocals and an energy that immediately pulled the crowd in.
Across the set, the band blended material from the new album with earlier EP tracks and singles, giving longtime fans and newer listeners alike plenty to enjoy.

Blues-Soaked Rock & Classic Swagger
Tracks like Broken Love and Devil’s Stomp showcased the band’s blues-soaked rock roots, while Proverbial Storm and Good Time Roller brought a real classic rock swagger to the evening.
There was a natural flow between the newer material and older favourites, highlighting just how strong the band’s catalogue already is.
Hotter Than The Sun Takes Centre Stage
Although the spotlight was understandably on the freshly released Hotter Than The Sun, songs such as Pearls Before Swine, Stronger, Baby Don’t Love Me and We Belong all landed brilliantly with the crowd, each bringing their own flavour to the set.
The title track itself sounded huge live, packed with confidence and energy, while Karmic Rituals added another standout moment in a night full of them.
Band Chemistry & Stage Presence
The chemistry between the band members was impossible to miss.
Every song felt tight without losing that raw live edge, and AK’s stage presence kept the audience engaged from start to finish.

Led Zeppelin Tribute & A Huge Finish
After powering through Born To Lose, the band surprised the crowd with an electrifying Led Zeppelin medley before launching into the final song of the night, Wolf Moon.
It was the perfect way to close the set. A tribute full of swagger and energy that sent the crowd into the final moments of the show buzzing.
Final Verdict
The atmosphere throughout the evening was something special.
The Little Theatre provided the perfect backdrop for a night that felt intimate yet packed with big stage energy, with the audience hanging on every riff and chorus.
If this show proved anything, it’s that AK & The Red Kites are far more than just another new band celebrating a debut release. Whether playing brand new album tracks or fan favourites from earlier releases, they delivered a performance full of passion, confidence and the kind of chemistry you simply can’t fake.
Judging by the reaction in Chesham on Saturday evening, this band’s momentum is only heading one way.
Go and check out their debut album Hotter Than The Sun, and catch them live on the remaining three shows on this tour.
