Ben Poole Post-Midnight Behaviour Album Out Now With Runaway Souls

Ben Poole Post-Midnight Behaviour is out now on Gypsy Soul Records — CD, vinyl and digital.

To mark the release he has put out “Runaway Souls” featuring Elles Bailey, with an official video on YouTube. It is his first studio album of new material since Anytime You Need Me in 2018.

Runaway Souls

Rock The Joint called it the favourite track on the record. R’N’R pointed to Elles Bailey lifting Poole’s evolving sound. Fireworks went for the guitar solo and the drums.

Poole has been circling this late-night brief for months: blues, rock, soul, country and alt-rock, guitar still there but sitting inside the song instead of standing on it. “Runaway Souls” is the clearest shot of that.

The album

“I wanted Post-Midnight Behaviour to capture how far I’ve come as a guitarist, singer, and songwriter,” Poole said. “After years of playing more than 150 shows annually across over 20 countries, everything has grown. I still get to unleash the guitar, but this time it sits inside something more atmospheric and reflective.”

He treated live albums as snapshots. This one he sat on until the writing and arrangements were finished. Blues Matters, The Rockpit, Blues in Britain and Guitarist Magazine have already clocked the same thing: songwriter’s record first, guitar hero second.

Ben Poole Post-Midnight Behaviour is the after-hours version of a player who used to lead with the solo.
