Clutch Wasted Lands Album Due 22 January 2027 – Title Track Out Now
Clutch Wasted Lands is the band’s 14th studio album, due 22 January 2027 on Weathermaker Music.
The title track is out now, with the official video premiering today on the OfficialClutch YouTube channel. Neil Fallon was due in the live chat from 4:50pm BST ahead of the 5pm premiere.
Written and recorded at the Doom Saloon in Frederick, Maryland, it is the first time Clutch have worked with producer Machine since Psychic Warfare in 2015.

The title track
Fallon built “Wasted Lands” around a Facebook hustle — someone convinced they were owed a free T-shirt and dinner from him after a pay-to-play contest. It was not him. They would not hear it. “You want a monster? Let’s give you one.”
The creature in the song is rumour: government experiment, angel, end-of-days omen. Locals call it Neil Patrick Fallon. Lovecraft and King get name-checked only to say they could not invent it.
Under that, Jean-Paul Gaster, Dan Maines and Tim Sult lock into a classic Clutch groove. Gaster put a bass drum on “man or beast” over Fallon’s line “Vegetable, mineral, man, or beast.” Machine thought it buried the vocal. Gaster said the live PA would prove him right.
The rest of the record
The band say they wanted songs that explode live, with room left for odd turns after 35 years. Riffs stay central; more of the weight now sits on chord progressions — “Colorado Fuel And Iron”, “Stage Fright”, “Loaf ‘N Jug”. “Beware The Fever” puts banjo on a Clutch album for the first time, kept from a rough Fallon demo because the re-takes never matched it.
Lyrics open in the rubble of the Georgia Guidestones on “The Drifter Returns” and close under an exploding star on “The Message Is Clear”. In between: Colorado’s Highway 50, company towns, robber barons, time cops, a chestburster, antimatter — and that creature.

US headline dates next month with Slomosa and Blood Vulture. Australia follows in January 2027 with Corrosion of Conformity, starting in Perth the day after release and running Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide (30 January).
Rock News final word: Clutch Wasted Lands is Clutch doing Clutch — groove first, Fallon spinning a monster out of a Facebook row. If the title track is the temperature, January is going to be a riff record with extra melody, not a reinvention. The bass drum on “man or beast” is the bit you will hear coming in the room.
