MASON HILL – WORLD SO WONDERFUL (2026)
The new album from Glasgow rockers Mason Hill and the first with vocalist Tom Ward. Eleven tracks, produced by Dan Weller, including “Twisted”, “Hurricane”, “Tainted Wings” and “Remember”. Out now on 7Hz Productions.
Where can I watch the Mason Hill Tainted Wings video?
Mason Hill – “Tainted Wings”, via the band’s official YouTube channel.
“Tainted Wings” is the last single the band shared before the album arrived, and it is the track Tom Ward first wrote a chorus for during his audition. The official video is on the band’s YouTube channel, so you can watch it above and then head straight into the full record.
Is Mason Hill World So Wonderful out now?
It is. World So Wonderful lands today as the band’s second album, the follow-up to their 2021 debut Against The Wall, and it is the first record to feature Tom Ward on vocals. Ward joined after the departure of former singer Scott Taylor at the end of 2023, and the album was recorded with Dan Weller.
If you have been following the run-up, you will already know a good chunk of it. The band shared “Twisted”, “Hurricane”, “Remember” and, most recently, “Tainted Wings”, the last single before the album arrived, so this is the point where the complete picture finally comes together.
What is on the Mason Hill World So Wonderful tracklist?
The album runs to eleven tracks:
- “Burn It Down”
- “Twisted”
- “Hurricane”
- “Tainted Wings”
- “Stay For A Little While”
- “Resonate”
- “Without You”
- “Silence”
- “Oxygen”
- “Remember”
- “Drag The Chains”
Four of those songs were already out before today, so the other seven are the ones that are new to listeners and the ones to look out for when the band hit the stage in November.
What have Mason Hill said about the album?
Bassist Matt Ward calls the record “the next step in the evolution of Mason Hill”, adding that it is “more fierce, more refined, and hungrier than ever”. He says it is “for everyone that kept believing in Mason Hill”.
Vocalist Tom Ward says the band “have poured our heart into this album” and that they are “all truly elated with the finished product”. He talks up the “exciting synergy” in the writing relationship, which he says has delivered “a new and revitalised Mason Hill”. His pitch to listeners is simple: whether you are a long-term fan or recently converted, “there is honestly something for everyone on this album, with riffs so crunchy you’ll need a neck brace after your first listen”.
Ward also credits producer Dan Weller. Coming into the band as a newcomer, he says working with him “was an amazing experience” and helped him “unlock my own style and take a new approach to writing”.

How did Mason Hill get to World So Wonderful?
It has not been an easy road. Over their ten-year existence Mason Hill have been through false starts and botched record deals, and there was a six-year gap between their 2015 debut EP and the release of Against The Wall. That album then landed in the middle of the Covid pandemic, which meant the band were not able to tour behind it at first. Scott Taylor’s departure at the end of 2023 was the latest obstacle.
Guitarist James Bird is open about how close it came to ending. “There have been times over the years when we weren’t even sure we’d be able to keep on being a band,” he says. “Even just before Tom came in, we were so close to saying, ‘Well, we tried, but let’s call it a day.’ But there’s a stubbornness and determination and passion in us that has kept us going.”
The new music, he says, “was obviously still Mason Hill, but we didn’t want it to be a copy of the first album”. Looking back at the good and the bad, Bird adds: “All the good stuff and the bad stuff, I’m glad it happened in a sense, because without it we wouldn’t be in this place we’re in right now.” His verdict: “This is who we are now. This is Mason Hill.”
One of the singles that set up the album was “Hurricane”. Now the whole album is out, and the November dates give everyone a chance to hear it played live.
Who is in Mason Hill?
The current line-up is Tom Ward on vocals, James Bird and Marc Montgomery on guitars, Matt Ward on bass and Craig McFetridge on drums.
