Glastonbury Heroes Return with Remixed Classic, New Single Alive, and UK Tour Dates
Levellers, the British folk-rock legends behind the 1995 No.1 album Zeitgeist, have announced its 30th anniversary remix edition, out November 7, 2025. Remixed by original producer Al Scott at the band’s Metway studio in Brighton, the release celebrates the summer soundtrack that topped charts alongside Blur and Oasis. Featuring hits like “Hope St.”, “Fantasy”, “The Fear”, and “Men-An-Tol”, the remix restores the original’s DIY vibe with Atmos mixes for immersive sound. Plus, the long-lost track “Alive” drops as a single today, September 30, 2025, with a video below. Pre-order HERE and catch their November 2025 UK tour—tickets at levellers.co.uk.
Alive: The Vault Gem Unearthed for 30th Anniversary
“Alive”, recorded during Zeitgeist sessions but shelved for “Just The One”, emerges as a vibrant, Led Zeppelin-inspired rocker with chiming guitars and eastern riffs echoing “Kashmir”. Violinist Jon Sevink reveals, “It was demoed early, remained a contender until mixing, when ‘Just The One’ edged it out. A judicious edit gave it new life—it’s a banger!” The video captures 1995 Metway sessions and Prague tour footage HERE.

Zeitgeist 30th Anniversary: A Timeless Snapshot Remixed
Zeitgeist (1995) solidified Levellers post-Glastonbury 1994 triumph, batting off Blur and The Charlatans to No.1. Recorded with second-hand gear in their self-funded Metway studio, it’s a “perfect snapshot of a distant time,” per Sevink. The remix enhances clarity without losing the originals’ feel, with Atmos mixes recreating live energy. Formats:
- 2LP: Remixed album + B-sides/rarities (including Joe Strummer on “Just The One” single mix).
- 3CD Deluxe: + Outtakes disc.
Levellers Legacy: Folk-Rock Rebels Defying Gravity
Since 1990, Levellers—Mark Chadwick (vocals/guitar), Jeremy Cunningham (bass), Charlie Heather (drums), Jon Sevink (violin), Simon Friend (guitar), and Matt Savage (keys)—have sold millions, rewriting rules for free thinkers. Zeitgeist’s joy, melancholy, and madness remain timeless, wrapped in English idealism. As Sevink says, “The aim is not to reinvent but enhance.”
