Yungblud’s “Changes” Set for Release After Show-Stopping Villa Park Rendition
Following an unforgettable performance that bridged generations and tugged at hearts, Yungblud is set to release his poignant rendition of Black Sabbath’s “Changes” — a highlight from the Back to the Beginning concert held at Villa Park on July 5th.
Delivered with a verisimilitude that nearly stole the show, the raw and vulnerable performance became one of the day’s defining moments. The fans sang along in retrospect, making it a moment that stood out on a day where quality performances were abundant and legends filled the stage.

With 40,000 fans gathered to witness a historic lineup — including Metallica, Slayer, Pantera, and Ozzy Osbourne’s final live appearance — Yungblud’s stripped-down take cut through the grandeur. His emotional connection to the material, paired with hauntingly delicate vocals, created a shared, intimate atmosphere in an otherwise massive arena.
“This was hands down one of the biggest moments of my life,” Yungblud says of his ‘Changes’ performance. “I got to stand on stage and honour one of my heroes and the fact that it has touched so many is truly overwhelming.”
Backing Yungblud were Tom Morello’s All Stars, a one-off ensemble featuring Nuno Bettencourt (Extreme), Frank Bello (Anthrax), Adam Wakeman, and Sleep Token’s elusive drummer II. Their restrained arrangement allowed the song’s melancholy heart to shine through, spotlighting lyrical vulnerability over instrumental bombast.

Nino wearing a red football shirt bearing the name of late Liverpool footballer Diogo Jota, Yungblud dedicated the performance to Jota’s memory following the tragic accident just days before. His heartfelt words — “This one’s for Jota, for the kids, and for everyone who’s ever felt the weight of change” — added deeper meaning to an already powerful moment.
Fans online have called it “goosebump-inducing,” “utterly unforgettable,” and “the best Black Sabbath cover in decades.” It wasn’t just a cover — it was a catharsis.
“Changes” will be released on July 18th, with proceeds going to Cure Parkinson’s, Birmingham Children’s Hospital, and Acorn’s Children’s Hospice. In doing so, Yungblud continues the spirit of remembrance and resilience sparked that night — turning one performance into lasting impact.
