Hollywood Vampires kicked off day one of Hellfests evening slots with a fantastic performance full of classic rock favourites, captivating an enormous crowd with their charisma and impeccable stage presence. It was a wonderful day with the radiant sun shining down on the arena although as Alice Cooper said ’You don’t often see vampires come out in the sunlight’ but even with the risk of being burnt by the sun didn’t stop them putting on a show that the crowd went wild for.

This will be the last time we ever get to see KISS live again, but I said that last year at Download. I first witnessed KISS in my 20s, and now at 57, thanks to their iconic makeup, they still look the same. The fiery anticipation fills the air as the black curtain conceals the entire stage.

Shell Shocked by BlitZ is an instant classic, pure classic rock. The song is a nod to AC/DC, with a BlitZ twist. The guitars are heavy and the drums are driving, but the vocals are the real stars of the show. Stuart Corden’s vocals are powerful and soulful, and he really sells the song. The lyrics are simple but effective, and they perfectly capture the feeling of being shell-shocked.
