Lord Of The Lost Unleash ‘Light Can Only Shine In The Darkness’ – A Gothic Masterpiece That Burns Bright

New music video with Within Temptation sets the tone for OPVS NOIR Vol. 1

If you thought Lord Of The Lost had already reached their creative peak with the glam-soaked chaos of Blood & Glitter, think again. The Hamburg-based genre-fluid sextet has just dropped a new music video for “Light Can Only Shine In The Darkness”, and it’s nothing short of a cinematic sermon. Teaming up with symphonic metal royalty Within Temptation, this track is the emotional epicentre of their upcoming album OPVS NOIR Vol. 1, out August 8th via Napalm Records.

Already seen the video? Tell us your favourite moment—was it the rooftop solitude or that final candlelit crescendo?

A Visual and Sonic Cathedral

Directed by VDPictures and filmed across Hamburg and the Netherlands, the video is a gothic fever dream. Rooftop solitude, candlelit corridors, and sweeping urban melancholy set the stage for Sharon den Adel and Chris Harms to deliver a duet that feels like a sacred ritual. The lighting is pure chiaroscuro drama—half Blade Runner, half Caravaggio—and the chemistry between the two vocalists is electric.

Musically, the track is a hybrid beast: darkwave metal collides with symphonic grandeur. Harms and den Adel trade verses like twin prophets of catharsis, their voices weaving through orchestral swells and industrial grit. It’s a song born from the ashes of their tour with Iron Maiden, and it sounds like the culmination of a decade-long dream.

What genre do you hear most in this track—gothic rock, symphonic metal, or something else entirely? Drop your take in the comments.

Who Are Lord Of The Lost?

  • Chris Harms – Vocals, Guitar
  • Pi Stoffers – Guitar
  • Class Grenayde – Bass
  • Gared Dirge – Piano, Synths, Percussion

OPVS NOIR Vol. 1: A Trilogy Begins

The upcoming album OPVS NOIR Vol. 1 is the first chapter in a three-part journey through emotional darkness. Harms describes it as a “travelogue through the dark sides of our inner world,” where melancholy becomes memory and loneliness transforms into peace.

The album features collaborations with Feuerschwanz, Tina Guo, Whiplasher Bernadotte, and Stimmgewalt. Formats include a DEEP DIVE edition with isolated audio stems for remixing and playthroughs, plus collector’s boxes and vinyl variants that are already selling out.

Following their Eurovision success and a sold-out headliner tour, Lord Of The Lost are returning to the UK with a vengeance. Their upcoming tour will showcase tracks from OPVS NOIR alongside fan favorites. Special guests include Skarlett Riot and Julien-K, promising a night of theatrical metal, synth-rock swagger, and emotional intensity.
