With over 3.3 billion global streams and a Grammy for Love Bites (So Do I), Pennsylvania’s hard rock titans Halestorm are unleashing a seismic 2025, starting with the electrifying video for Darkness Always Wins, the lead single from their sixth studio album, Everest, out August 8 via Atlantic Records. Premiered on June 26, 2025, and directed by DJay Brawner, the cinematic clip casts frontwoman Lzzy Hale as a sword-wielding knight in a brooding, apocalyptic landscape, as hyped by @Halestorm on X.
“This band is the beating heart of hard rock—miss them at your peril.”
Produced by Grammy-winner Dave Cobb (Chris Stapleton, Slash), the track’s haunting bells, Joe Hottinger’s blistering guitar solo, and Lzzy’s raw, exquisite vocals have stormed the top 20 at US Active Rock radio and earned B-list status on Planet Rock and Kerrang! Radio in the UK. With a performance alongside Iron Maiden at London Stadium this Saturday, June 28, a slot at Black Sabbath’s final Birmingham show on July 5, a US tour with Volbeat, and a headline UK arena tour in November, Halestorm are scaling new peaks. Watch the Darkness Always Wins video below, stream it on Spotify, and pre-save Everest at halestormrocks.com.
Darkness Always Wins: A Cinematic Anthem of Defiance
Darkness Always Wins is a slow-burning hard rock epic that sets the tone for Everest’s emotional intensity. Lzzy Hale’s vocals, described by Revolver as “exquisite in their minor-key melodicism,” carry a stark, unyielding message. “It’s not a song of hope, nor despair—it’s reality, where evil prevails, but we persist to pass the torch,” Hale told Kerrang!. The Brawner-directed video, praised by @Revolvermag on X for its “swordfight-fueled passion,” amplifies this with apocalyptic imagery and Lzzy’s commanding presence. Recorded in Savannah with Cobb’s raw, late-night jam approach, the track’s requiem bells, metal-charged bridge, and anthemic chorus make it an instant classic, perfect for fist-pumping crowds. Its chart climb, noted by KNAC.com, signals Halestorm’s unrelenting grip on rock radio.
Everest: A Monumental Leap
Everest, out August 8, 2025, is Halestorm’s most ambitious record yet, weaving themes of melancholy, anger, and love lost. Produced by Cobb, tracks like Fallen Star, Rain Your Blood on Me, and K-I-L-L-I-N-G—previewed at Welcome to Rockville, per chaoszine.net—promise a raw, riff-heavy rollercoaster. Rolling Stone lauds its “catchy, brooding drama,” while bassist Josh Smith told Blabbermouth it captures “20 years of wisdom from our basement roots.” Following their 2024 Live at Wembley album, which documented a sold-out 12,500-capacity show (kerrang.com), Everest is poised to elevate Halestorm’s legacy. 2025: Halestorm’s Year of Triumph
Halestorm—Lzzy Hale (vocals/guitar), Arejay Hale (drums), Joe Hottinger (guitar), and Josh Smith (bass)—are a live force unmatched, with seven #1 rock radio hits and a reputation for electrifying performances. Their 2025 kicks off with a bang: supporting Iron Maiden’s Run for Your Lives tour at London Stadium on June 28, alongside Slipknot, as confirmed by ticketmaster.co.uk. Lzzy’s disdain for backing tracks, shared with Maiden’s Bruce Dickinson in Kerrang!, underscores their raw ethos. On July 5, they join Metallica, Slayer, and Anthrax at Black Sabbath’s Back to the Beginning finale at Birmingham’s Villa Park, curated by Sharon Osbourne and Tom Morello, per thatericalper.com. A US tour with Volbeat follows in August, hitting venues like Red Rocks, per outburn.com.
