Aerosmith Tease One Last Gig: Joe Perry Opens Door to Reunion Amid Tyler’s Triumphant Return
In a move that’s sent shockwaves through the rock world, Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry has revealed that the band is “talking about” reuniting for one final concert. The news comes nearly a year after the legendary group announced their retirement from touring, following frontman Steven Tyler’s devastating vocal cord injury.
Speaking on Sirius XM’s Trunk Nation, Perry shared cautious optimism about the band’s future: “We’re talking about it,” he said. “I know there’s gotta be at least another Aerosmith gig… we’re all alive and well, so we’ll just have to see.” While no dates are on the calendar, Perry’s comments have reignited hope among fans that the Boston rockers might take the stage once more.
Aerosmith’s farewell was anything but smooth. Their ‘Peace Out’ tour, launched in 2023, was abruptly halted after just three shows when Tyler suffered a fractured larynx. Despite months of rehabilitation and the support of top medical professionals, the band announced in August 2024 that Tyler’s full recovery was “not possible.” In a heartfelt statement, they described the decision to retire from touring as “heartbreaking and difficult, but necessary”.

Yet Tyler’s recent performance at the Back to the Beginning concert in Birmingham has flipped the narrative. The event, a star-studded farewell to Black Sabbath, saw Tyler join a supergroup featuring Ronnie Wood, Nuno Bettencourt, Tom Morello, and others. His set included blistering renditions of “Train Kept A-Rollin’,” “Walk This Way,” and a fiery cover of Led Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love”.
Far from showing signs of vocal strain, Tyler delivered with the swagger and power that earned him the nickname “Demon of Screamin’.” His voice soared, his stage presence was magnetic, and his chemistry with the band was electric. The performance was hailed as “magic” by Metal Hammer, and fans flooded social media with praise, calling it one of the highlights of the night.

With Perry’s comments and Tyler’s resurgence, the prospect of a final Aerosmith show feels tantalizingly real. Bassist Tom Hamilton has also hinted at unfinished business, saying, “I refuse to consider it over.” Whether it’s a one-off gig or something more, the band’s legacy—and their bond—seems too strong to fade quietly.
For now, fans can only dream. But if Tyler’s voice holds and Perry’s instincts are right, Aerosmith might just give us one last chance to walk that way.
