Scarlet Rebels – God’s Honest Truth (official video)

The video is unlike anything the band have done before. It is inspired by retro computer games, where a character’s health is shown as a row of hearts that disappear as they take damage, and it ties directly into the fading hearts on the Flawed By Design artwork.

What is God’s Honest Truth about?

The song started life as a riff recorded on a phone and spent months taking shape in rehearsals. With studio time left to record one last track, the band went back to it, and it ended up shaping the whole album, inspiring its title, its artwork and the concept behind it.

Frontman Wayne Doyle explains: “At the time of writing, I was going through the loss of a friend and contemplating what the point of it all was. If we are the product of a higher power or higher being, then I considered how can anyone ‘almighty’ allow that sort of thing to happen. Which led me to think that – in order for any higher power to allow that, then surely, they themselves are flawed… Does Humanity as the ‘creation’, also inherit the same quality? If so, with the birth of AI becoming a thing that Humanity has created, we would also pass that trait into what we create…”

He goes on: “We then watch how the highest powers of society have designed a way of life where the ordinary man, gets stuck in the everyday cycle, living to work, putting our trust in these people to act in our best interests, whilst that trust gets taken advantage of.” For Wayne, that loss of humanity is more and more obvious, and it is the idea behind the diminishing hearts on the cover.

When is Scarlet Rebels’ Flawed By Design released?

Flawed By Design lands on Friday 13 November 2026 through Earache Records. It is the band’s fourth album and was made once again with producer Chris Clancy, who also plays piano and synths and adds backing vocals. The line-up is Wayne Doyle (lead vocals, guitar, acoustic guitar), Chris Jones (lead guitar), Carl Oag (bass) and Gary Doyle (drums and percussion).

God’s Honest Truth follows three earlier singles: This Is Happening Now, which made Classic Rock magazine’s Hot List and was described as “a meaty heartfelt anthem with socialpolitical heart, featuring some of the biggest, classiest guitar action and singalong value of their career”, Don’t Look Down, which was added to the Planet Rock playlist, and Chains, whose video was filmed at the band’s biggest headline show to date at Chepstow Castle. You can catch up on their previous single here.

Where are the Scarlet Rebels record store shows?

Release week brings seven UK record store appearances. Some will be stripped-back acoustic sets and others full-band shows. “Being able to get in front of and meet everyone that’s stood tall for us for so long is really important to us,” says Wayne. “Being able to strip the songs back to their barest nature as well as having a few full band shows gives us and our Rebel Club the opportunity to celebrate the release of ‘Flawed By Design’ in style.”

Headline tour tickets are on the band’s official live page, which takes you to each venue’s official seller. The Tyketto dates are Tyketto shows, so book those through the venues. Stick to official sellers and avoid anyone selling tickets on social media, because small club shows like these can sell out and fake tickets are common.

Who are Scarlet Rebels?

Scarlet Rebels are from Llanelli in South Wales. They made history as the first band from Llanelli and Carmarthenshire to land a UK top 40 album when See Through Blue reached number seven in February 2022. They followed it with Where The Colours Meet, which went to number 15 in August 2024 and gave them their first number one on the UK Official Rock & Metal Albums Chart. They have become one of the most talked-about British rock bands of the past decade, and their fan community goes by the name Rebel Club.
