Massive Wagons HMS Wagons Takes a Tumble: Baz Mills’ Nautical Mishap in Gloucester

Massive Wagons HMS Wagons: Gloucester Guildhall has seen its fair share of rock ‘n’ roll chaos over the years, but Saturday, 2 May 2026, will go down in history for a different kind of “splash”. Massive Wagons, currently in the midst of their high-octane Everywhere We Go’ UK Tour, brought their signature blend of infectious riffs and blue-collar anthems to a sold-out crowd in Gloucester. However, the night took an unexpectedly literal turn when frontman Baz Mills decided to trade the stage for the high seas—or at least a rubber dinghy.

Massive Wagons HMS Wagons: The Great Dinghy Disaster

Known for his relentless energy and desire to connect with the audience, Baz Mills is never one to stay behind a microphone stand for long. During the set, the band launched into a moment of pure spectacle as Mills climbed into a blue and yellow rubber dinghy, dubbed the “HMS Wagons,” and set sail across a sea of outstretched hands.

The crowd-surfing stunt started as a triumph, with the frontman held aloft by the Gloucester faithful, punching the air as he glided above the mosh pit. But as the boat was being ferried back toward the stage, disaster struck. Perhaps it was a sudden surge in the crowd’s enthusiasm or a slight misstep in the nautical navigation, but the dinghy tipped sharply. Before the fans could steady the vessel, Baz was sent overboard, tumbling head-first into the crowd.

In true rock ‘n’ roll fashion, the music didn’t stop. After a few tense seconds where only the bottom of the dinghy was visible, Mills emerged from the “waves” of the audience, slightly dishevelled but wearing a grin that could light up the entire Guildhall. He scrambled back onto the stage, barely missing a beat, proving once again why this band is regarded as one of the most resilient acts on the circuit.

Massive Wagons HMS Wagons: A Tour of Pure Adrenaline

This mishap is just another chapter in what is becoming a legendary tour for the Lancaster rockers. Only weeks ago, Rock News caught up with the band at the Leicester O2 Academy on 18 April, where we gave them a rare 11/10 rating. In that review, we noted that “tonight wasn’t just about a charismatic frontman; it was a cohesive show by every single member of the band,” highlighting a level of musicianship that has genuinely levelled up for 2026.

While Baz didn’t need a dinghy in Leicester—relying instead on a “Vote Hope” t-shirt and 2,000 friends to carry the energy—the Gloucester incident perfectly encapsulates the band’s “fans-first” ethos. They don’t just play at you; they play with you, often ending up right in the middle of the madness.

What’s Next for the Wagons?

The ‘Everywhere We Go’ tour has been a relentless march across the UK, following the release of their live album in March 2026. Having already scorched stages in Norwich, Hull, and Middlesbrough, the band is showing no signs of fatigue.

For those who missed the nautical antics in Gloucester, the tour is far from over. Massive Wagons are set to continue their trek with several high-profile dates remaining, including:

  • August 1: Buckley, The Tivoli
  • August 6–9: Firevolt Rock Festival, Stockport

Whether Baz Mills decides to bring the “HMS Wagons” back out for the festival season remains to be seen, but one thing is certain: a Massive Wagons show is never predictable, always “one louder,” and occasionally involves a life jacket.

Did you witness the Gloucester “shipwreck” or were you at the legendary Leicester show?
