About the New Album ‘Cruel Intentions’

‘Cruel Intentions’ is the most complete and confident record yet from The Karma Effect. Recorded at The Hive Rooms near Gatwick Airport in July 2025 with producer Michael Charman and mixed by Mercury/GRAMMY-nominated Romesh Dodangoda, the 11-track album (plus exclusive bonus track ‘Chasing Sunsets’ on the USB edition) is leaner, louder and heavier than ever before.

Tracklisting:

  1. Ride or Die
  2. Dangerous Love
  3. Lady Bohemian
  4. Raised on Rock ‘n’ Roll
  5. Bad Manners
  6. Closest Thing to Crazy
  7. Waiting on a Miracle
  8. Better Luck Next Time
  9. Long Gone
  10. Cruel Intentions
  11. One More for the Road

(12th track ‘Chasing Sunsets’ available on exclusive USB bonus edition)

Vocalist Henry Gottelier said: “This album is the culmination of everything we have. While collaborating again with producer Michael Charman, we brought in Romesh Dodangoda specifically for the mix because we were obsessed with making every single note count. The result is a sound so big, it’s a stadium experience for your ears.”

The new record explores love, lust, danger and cheeky wit while staying true to the band’s ‘modern vintage’ sound – polishing 70s and 80s rock influences into something fresh and 21st-century.

The Karma Effect Line-Up

  • Henry Gottelier – vocals, guitar
  • Robbie Blake – guitar
  • Nathan Keevil – bass
  • Alan Taylor – drums
  • Tom Pitt – keyboards

Since forming during the pandemic, the band have gone from strength to strength: their 2024 album Promised Land reached the UK Top 20, and they have built a reputation for high-energy live shows that perfectly capture their swaggering, riff-heavy style.

Pre-order ‘Cruel Intentions’ now and secure your tickets for the autumn tour before they sell out.
