The video was shot at the Viper Room in Los Angeles and directed by John Harvatine IV. The song started in pre-production when Slash played a riff he did not have written down. It came together in the room. He says that is why it became the single: the melody and the hook were already there once they had recorded it. Kennedy’s lyric is about people taking the shortcut to happiness.

The album

Recorded mostly live with Michael “Elvis” Baskette at Studio Barbarosa in Florida, largely in a week, often two songs a day, same room. Slash on guitar and pedal steel, Myles Kennedy vocals, Todd Kerns bass, Brent Fitz drums, Frank Sidoris rhythm guitar. First full SMKC record since 4 in 2022.

Slash’s brief to Baskette was keep it live and do not sand the takes afterwards. Kennedy says the sounds and performances on this one are his favourite of the lot. “Looking for a Miracle” is the first song Slash wrote on pedal steel, and the first with a recorded pedal steel solo from him. “Living the Dream” is the instrumental. “Sweet Kill” is the one he calls the most ’80s thing he has done in a while.
