New Zac Schulze Gang Single “Hellhounds On My Trail” Wins Classic Rock Tracks of the Week
Gillingham rockers The Zac Schulze Gang have scored a major early win with their new Zac Schulze Gang single “Hellhounds On My Trail”.
The track has been named Classic Rock’s Tracks of the Week.
Classic Rock said: “In an age when rock bands have largely forgotten how to swing, along comes Hellhounds On My Trail by Gillingham rockers the Zac Schulze Gang, and it swings hard, pounding and pummelling and puffing its chest out.”

About the New Zac Schulze Gang Single
“Hellhounds On My Trail” is a cover of the late blues guitarist Tony Dowler’s fiery reimagining of the Robert Johnson classic. It is the first new music from the band’s forthcoming sophomore album, due for release via Ruf Records in February 2027, and the first release since their critically acclaimed 2025 debut Straight To It.
The track was recorded live with long-time producer Ian Sadler and captures the blistering guitars, breakneck energy and raw chemistry that have made the trio one of Britain’s most talked-about young rock ’n’ roll bands.
Frontman Zac Schulze said: “We were first introduced to the song when our friend Petra Burns asked us to perform it at the Rory Gallagher Festival in Holland. Every time we perform it, it evolves—we improvise and discover something new. The recorded version is our best attempt to capture that live energy while paying tribute to Tony Dowler, who wrote such a brilliant song. It really sums up where we are as a band right now.”
The Band
The Zac Schulze Gang are a three-piece led by guitarist and vocalist Zac Schulze, with drummer Ben Schulze and bassist Ant Greenwell. Their sound fuses punk bite, blues fire and classic rock swagger, delivered with the intensity of their live shows.
Rock News final word: The new Zac Schulze Gang single “Hellhounds On My Trail” is a high-energy, swinging rock track that fully justifies its Classic Rock Tracks of the Week win. With a second album already on the way for early 2027, the band continue to build serious momentum. One to watch.
