King King Announce Fiery New Album Light Up The Sky

NewsKing KingNew Music

British blues rock heavyweights King King have officially announced their long-awaited new album, Light Up The Sky, set for release on September 29th, 2025. The announcement, made via the band’s social media channels, has already ignited excitement among fans and critics alike. The first single, “Strong,” is due to drop on July 4th, promising a taste of what’s to come from a band that’s never been content to coast on past glories.

This marks King King’s first studio album since 2020’s Maverick, and it arrives with a renewed sense of purpose and power. Frontman Alan Nimmo, known for his powerhouse vocals, searing guitar work, and signature kilt, leads a lineup that includes his brother Stevie Nimmo on guitar and vocals, Jonny Dyke on keys, Zander Greenshields on bass, and Jon Lodge on drums. Together, they’ve forged a sound that’s equal parts soul, grit, and unfiltered blues rock energy.

Formed in 2008 by Alan Nimmo and bassist Lindsay Coulson, King King quickly carved out a name for themselves with their debut album Take My Hand in 2011. Since then, they’ve racked up a string of accolades, including multiple British Blues Awards and high-profile support slots with legends like John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers, Thunder, and Europe. Their 2013 follow-up Standing in the Shadows and 2015’s Reaching for the Light solidified their reputation as one of the UK’s most electrifying live acts, with Alan’s soulful delivery and blistering solos front and centre.

But Light Up The Sky isn’t just another notch in their discography—it’s a statement. After weathering lineup changes and the industry-wide pause brought on by the pandemic, King King have emerged with a sound that’s tighter, bolder, and more dynamic than ever. The addition of Stevie Nimmo has added a new dimension to the band’s sonic palette, bringing sibling chemistry and vocal harmonies that elevate their already formidable live presence.

The band will support the album with a UK tour, and they’re also set to make a rare stateside appearance at the Playing With Fire Festival in Omaha, Nebraska on August 15th C. For fans on both sides of the Atlantic, it’s a chance to witness a band that’s not just surviving the times—they’re thriving in them.

With Light Up The Sky, King King aren’t just aiming to rekindle the flame—they’re throwing gasoline on it. And if the title is anything to go by, they’re ready to burn brighter than ever.
