About the Follow Your Hunches Rockumentary

The Follow Your Hunches rockumentary celebrates 30 years since Harvey Springfield’s first live performance. The film takes an inspirational look at the DIY music path, focusing on independence, artistic vision and community over commercial success.

One of the strongest elements of the film is Harvey’s clear passion for music, which comes through right from the start. Coming from a musical family, his love for the craft is obvious throughout. This is ultimately a film about the pure passion for music and the realities of the grassroots scene. Anyone who shares that same passion is likely to connect strongly with the story.

Springfield said: “I’ve been compiling so much footage from 30 years’ worth of music experiences that it felt necessary to do something meaningful with it. There’s been tough times but also many rewarding moments and lessons to learn. I feel lucky that I finally get to share it with everybody.”

Bands & Fans Event

The premiere forms part of the first Bands & Fans event at Lumiere Cinema. Ten bands, including WREX, Asleep at the Helm and Soul Nest, will also showcase their work on the big screen, sell merchandise, network and meet fans in a unique setting that differs from traditional gigs.

Rock News final word: The Follow Your Hunches rockumentary is a heartfelt and genuine look at life in grassroots music. Harvey Springfield’s passion comes across clearly, and the film feels like a real celebration of the DIY spirit. If you’ve ever been part of the independent music scene, this is one you’ll want to see. The London premiere on 12 September looks like the perfect setting for it.
