FireVolt Festival 2026

The Spirit of FireVolt Festival

FireVolt Festival 2026 Review : There is something sacred about a weekend in the British countryside echoing with the weight of a distorted guitar. Welcome to FireVolt, hosted at the stunning Whitebottom Farm in Stockport. This year, the festival was blessed with a rare, scorching weekend of unbroken sunshine, turning this idyllic pocket of the North West into a sun-drenched sanctuary for heavy riffs, soaring anthems, and an unyielding community spirit.

This was my first FireVolt, but I sincerely hope it won’t be the last. First of all, a huge thank you to Nigel and Nicky for herding us photographers so expertly throughout the weekend. My overriding impression of the festival is just how friendly it was — from every member of staff to the people we spoke to over a beer or a bite to eat. The location itself is simply stunning: a small slice of paradise right here in Stockport.

FireVolt may not be the biggest festival on the circuit, but it consistently punches well above its weight when it comes to the line-up. At RockNews, we had boots on the ground to capture the pulse of the weekend. This is a visceral celebration of both contemporary and classic rock — from stadium-conquering heavyweights to ferocious underground up-and-comers — where pure sonic energy meets raw, honest passion.

Navigating Whitebottom Farm: Facilities and Infrastructure of FireVolt Festival 2026 Review

Organization makes or breaks a festival, and the team behind FireVolt continues to nail the art of running a seamless, fan-first event.

  • Getting There: Logistics are handled with foresight, with off-site parking in Compstall paired with a reliable, complimentary shuttle bus.
  • Amenities: Whether you’re pitching a tent or glamping, the spatial management is commendable. With the sun beating down all weekend, the permanent, flushing toilet blocks and operational showers were a lifesaver, keeping everyone refreshed under the relentless blue skies.
  • Food & Drink: The culinary options were excellent, and the bar’s swift token system kept ice-cold pints within arm’s reach throughout the heat.
  • Safety: The security team maintained a friendly, visible presence, protecting the family-friendly atmosphere without ever stifling the celebratory vibe.

FireVolt Festival 2026 Review Friday: The Weekend Roars to Life

Thursday might have been the official start, but Friday was our first day on site — and it didn’t mess about. The dual stages kicked into gear straight away, shifting between heavy alternative grooves and big melodic powerhouses under a perfect, cloudless sky.

The Takeaway Thieves Kick Off FireVolt Festival

FireVolt Festival 2026

Takeaway Thieves were the first band we actually got to see (sadly we missed Shape of Water). They hit the stage with proper energy and wasted no time getting the early crowd moving. Tight riffs, big choruses and a frontman who looked like he was having the time of his life — they set a great tone for the rest of the day. One of those bands that just make you glad you turned up early.

Doomsday Outlaw: Big Riffs, Bigger Attitude

FireVolt Festival 2026

Doomsday Outlaw came out swinging. Frontman Phil Poole was rocking a classic Frankie Goes to Hollywood Relax T-shirt and led the band through a proper no-nonsense set full of big riffs and even bigger attitude. They had the crowd properly locked in from the first song — one of those bands that just feel made for a sunny afternoon at a festival like this.

FireVolt Festival 2026

Fireheart: A Fledgling Powerhouse

FireVolt Festival 2026

If you needed any proof that the underground scene is still properly buzzing, Fireheart delivered it in spades. With just an EP under their belt, this young band hit the stage with the kind of high-octane grit you’d normally expect from proper veterans. They didn’t just play their set — they tore through it with the hungry energy of a band that already knows they belong on bigger stages. Keep an eye on this band within the first few songs its clear that they are going places.

FireVolt Festival 2026

Ward XVI: Theatrical Chaos and Serial-Killer Spectacle

FireVolt Festival 2026

Ward XVI brought pure theatrical chaos to the stage. These Preston shock-rockers don’t just play a set — they put on a full-blown horror show, all centred around their serial-killer character Psychoberrie. Big riffs, dark storytelling, and enough visual madness to make Alice Cooper proud. The crowd were gripped from the first song. If you’ve never seen them live, you’re missing out on one of the most entertaining bands on the circuit right now.

FireVolt Festival 2026

Renegade: An Authentic Heartbeat

FireVolt Festival 2026

It is rare to see a tribute act operate in such a different league. At the helm is Darren Wharton, whose rock pedigree runs deep—having joined Thin Lizzy back in 1979. Bringing that authentic heartbeat to the stage, the band delivered a performance brimming with timeless twin-guitar harmony and Irish-infused swagger. Adding a layer of pure magic to the weekend, Ricky Warwick stepped out mid-set to trade vocals on The Boys Are Back in Town.

The New Roses: An International Brotherhood

FireVolt Festival 2026

It was brilliant to see the festival grounds swimming in New Roses T-shirts, a testament to the connection this German powerhouse has forged with the UK. Frontman Timmy Rough brought a life-affirming energy to the stage, instantly breaking down the barriers between band and audience. From the explosive crowd-chanting on Usual Suspects to a raucous cover of Rockin’ in the Free World, the band proved they are leaders of the pack.

Ricky Warwick: The Storyteller at the Helm

FireVolt Festival 2026

Watching Ricky Warwick is a proper masterclass in authentic rock-and-roll storytelling. He had the whole Trouper Stage in the palm of his hand within seconds thanks to that trademark wit: “Do you good people like disco? Oh, wrong meeting!” Straight after he introduced his new single Fire and Vengeance, and the set just rolled from there — classic grit mixed with the new stuff, all delivered with that easy charisma of his. A ferocious cover of Motörhead’s Iron Fist sealed the deal. Moments like that are exactly why Warwick is still royalty on the British circuit.

Mason Hill: A Formidable Force

FireVolt Festival 2026

As the sun began to dip on Friday evening, casting long shadows across the festival grounds, Mason Hill provided the perfect soundtrack to the cooling air with a hard-hitting set. Moving through heavy cuts like Burn It Down and DNA, the band also treated us to a brilliant preview of upcoming material with Tainted Wings. Their explosive presence tonight proved they are more than ready to turn heads all over again.

FireVolt Festival 2026 Review Saturday: Riffs and Radiant Sunshine

Saturday hit with unrelenting force. With the heat wave showing no signs of slowing down, the crowd was dialed in, the mosh pits were rowdier, and the atmosphere in the arena turned electric.

Crowley: First Up and Straight Into the Riffs

FireVolt Festival 2026

Crowley were the first band on Saturday, perfect for blowing off the cobwebs. This Newcastle five-piece (formed only in 2022) mix big 70s-style riffs with a dark edge — think Black Sabbath and Green Lung with a modern heavy twist. Frontwoman Lidya’s commanding voice cuts straight through, and the whole band look and sound like they’re having an absolute blast. Dark grooves, huge choruses and that classic-meets-modern energy that works perfectly on a sunny festival afternoon. One of the most exciting rising bands on the UK scene.

McHale’s Permanent Brew: Proper Blues-Rock Groove

FireVolt Festival 2026

McHale’s Permanent Brew brought some classic North West blues-rock energy to the stage. Twin guitars, solid grooves and that warm, lived-in sound that feels right at home on a sunny festival afternoon. Paul and Frank McHale lead the charge with plenty of 60s and 70s-inspired riffs, the kind of no-nonsense guitar work that keeps things moving without ever feeling forced.A rich, full-bodied dose of blues-rock that brewed up a storm and went down a treat.

Thieves Of Liberty: A Riot in the Front Row

FireVolt Festival 2026

This band are an absolute blast to watch. When they found out it was someone’s birthday in the crowd they gifted them a T-shirt — then jokingly offered to sign it for an extra tenner. Never ones to stay stuck on the stage, the guitarists marched straight into the middle of the crowd for a proper blistering riff-off, which kicked off a full-blown fancy-dress mosh pit. At one point one of the guitarists even appeared up on top of the hill. They’re a properly electrifying outfit — make it your mission to catch them live if you haven’t already.

LN: Viking Rock Spectacle

FireVolt Festival 2026

This Viking rock force delivered a performance packed with theatrical flair and proper thunderous weight, commanding the audience so completely that you soon find out you do exactly as you’re told. Muddibrooke: Uncompromising and Arresting

FireVolt Festival 2026

It was great to see one of our favourite bands again. Muddibrooke left no doubt they’re still on a proper upward trajectory, and this time they treated us to some tracks from the upcoming album — Fool Heart, Get Away and One Life. Blasting through the new material, they showed that the album is going to be a belter. They’ve got that uncompromising sound that locks you in from the very first chord.

Watching These Wicked Rivers dominate the stage was a true triumph. Having followed them from their very early days, seeing them evolve into a formidable live beast has been incredible. Featuring their latest single Horse to Water alongside the soon-to-be-released Sing Another Song, this felt like a defining moment in what is shaping up to be an extraordinary career.

Dare: Melodic Rock Royalty

FireVolt Festival 2026: The Ultimate Rock Weekender Round-Up

Darren Wharton came back again after treating us to Renegade the day before. Dare delivered exactly what you’d hope for — classic melodic rock with soaring choruses, smooth guitar work and that unmistakable emotional punch. Wharton’s voice is still in fine form, and the whole set had that polished-yet-heartfelt quality that makes Dare stand out. A great act who know exactly how to fill a festival stage.

The standout performance of the weekend! Pure, unadulterated theatre, Wednesday 13 delivered in buckets. They put on a cinematic, high-voltage show and tore through a sinister setlist that included Bad Things and I Walked With a Zombie. One of the biggest highlights was a thunderous drum solo backed by classic horror movie themes. Dark, electrifying entertainers through and through. And right at the end they even brought out a birthday cake for Wednesday’s upcoming birthday.

Massive Wagons: Modern British Royalty

FireVolt Festival 2026: The Ultimate Rock Weekender Round-Up

Closing out Saturday with absolute authority, Massive Wagons delivered a headline set that proved exactly why they’re modern British rock royalty. There’s a real love for this band that’s evident every time they play. They always make it fun and bring so many great songs you can properly sing along to — the highlight for me being The Curry Song. Known for those hook-driven anthems and razor-sharp lyrics, they turned the whole place into a seething, singing choir. Their live show remains second to none.

The Inflatable Duck Incident

Amidst the non-stop riffs and the relentless sunshine, it’s worth pausing to remember why Fire Volt is peerless. Festivals thrive on the absurdity of the moment. Organizer Bev took full advantage of the perfect weather, ticking off a legendary bucket-list ambition by crowd-surfing across the sea of hands—while safely nestled inside a giant inflatable duck. Against the backdrop of a clear blue sky, it was the perfect snapshot of the tongue-in-cheek camaraderie that makes the FireVolt family so special.
