The Painful Truth: A Bold New Chapter

The Painful Truth captures Skunk Anansie at their most fearless, tackling personal struggles, industry challenges, and the ever-evolving world around them. Produced by David Sitek (TV On The Radio), the album blends their signature grit with fresh, dynamic soundscapes, proving they remain one of Britain’s most vital rock bands.
“I don’t care that we were big in the ‘90s,” says vocalist Skin. “Resting on past success is the fastest way to wither away artistically. If we didn’t evolve, we’d just be doing Skunk karaoke.”
Facing creative crossroads after their Greatest Hits tour, the band retreated to a farmhouse in Devon, stripping everything back to their rawest form. The result? A bold, uncompromising album that reignites their fire.
The Painful Truth – Tracklist:
- An Artist Is An Artist
- This Is Not Your Life
- Shame
- Lost And Found
- Cheers
- Shoulda Been You
- Animal
- Fell In Love With A Girl
- My Greatest Moment
- Meltdown
First single “An Artist Is An Artist” has already made waves, earning major radio play across BBC 6Music, Kerrang! Radio, Planet Rock, and Absolute Radio, with Jo Whiley championing it on Radio 2. Meanwhile, “Cheers” showcases their unstoppable ability to craft anthems, blending pulsating rhythms with a euphoric, arena-ready chorus.
“This is the best album we’ve made in years,” confesses Skin. “And that is the painful truth.”
