The Darkness Unveils New Video and Upcoming Album ‘Dreams On Toast’

The Darkness has just dropped the captivating video for their new single ‘I Hate Myself’, a standout track from their highly anticipated eighth studio album, Dreams On Toast, set for release on March 28th via Cooking Vinyl. Fans can pre-order the album now here.

A Bold New Video for ‘I Hate Myself’

Directed by the talented Simon Emmett, the ‘I Hate Myself’ video is a raw, unedited masterpiece filmed in one continuous take. Frontman Justin Hawkins steps into uncharted territory, channeling a world-weary, chain-smoking diva adorned with immaculate makeup and flowing locks. The video dives into self-reflection, chronicling the collapse of a relationship while Justin unapologetically points the finger at himself.

Justin Hawkins shared his thoughts on the video:
“Working with Simon Emmett is always a joy. This video perfectly complements the lyrical self-loathing of the song. It’s taken an already favorite track of mine to the next level. I can’t wait for everyone to see it—this one’s deeply personal, and I’m here for the conversation. Love you all… even if I hate myself.”

The video premiered on Justin Hawkins’ popular YouTube channel, ‘Justin Hawkins Rides Again’, where fans joined a live first-look party with Justin and guitarist Dan Hawkins.

A Glimpse into Dreams On Toast

The Darkness also revealed the full tracklist for Dreams On Toast, a 10-track opus that showcases their signature blend of glam rock bravado, heartfelt balladry, and innovative new sounds. Produced by Dan Hawkins, the album promises to solidify their place as one of Britain’s most iconic rock bands. From swaggering anthems like ‘Mortal Dread’ to the country-tinged ‘Cold Hearted Woman’, this record captures The Darkness at their most inspired.

Tracklist Highlights:

  • The Longest Kiss – A jaunty ‘70s pop gem.
  • Rock And Roll Party Cowboy – Seared with hard rock fire.
  • Hot On My Tail – A heartfelt ‘60s ballad.
  • Walking Through Fire – A swaggering anthem.

Live Performances: From Intimate Gigs to Wembley Arena
