FM’s Polished Performance and Collateral’s Dynamic Energy Light Up the Rescue Rooms

Last night, I was back at The Rescue Rooms in Nottingham, this time to cover the performances by FM and my personal favorite UK band, the brilliant Collateral.

Angelo Tristan and his band Collateral opened the evening’s entertainment in style, just as I expected. I first photographed the band at last year’s Stonedead festival, and I’ve followed them ever since.

Their music is reminiscent of a young Bon Jovi, with great rolling lyrics and superb guitar licks. Frontman Angelo Tristan is the epitome of a rock star in my mind: flamboyant, good-looking, and a superb performer who absolutely commands the stage. His energy is infectious, and you can’t help but smile during the band’s performance. The band only had 30 minutes but managed to cover some of their best-known songs.

Set List: “Glass Sky,” “Big Shot,” “No Place for Love,” “On the Long Road,” “Merry Go Round,” and “Midnight Queen.”

The band is about to release their new album, ‘Should’ve Known Better,’ at their launch party at The Underworld in Camden on May 26, 2024. I’m hoping to have the opportunity to be there with my camera. Get tickets here.

FM

The headliner, FM, is a band I had never seen before, but they have a strong following and a great reputation. The band has been around since the mid-80s and has toured with the likes of Foreigner, Tina Turner, and Gary Moore.

Their performance was polished and well received by the fans at the Nottingham Rescue Rooms. This venue is brilliant, allowing for a very intimate experience in terms of band/fan interaction. I enjoyed the band’s set and would certainly make the effort to see them again.

The band’s set included “Digging Up the Dirt,” “Tough,” “Killed,” “Someday,” “Heartache,” “Everytime,” “Blue,” “Dream,” “Synch,” “Say,” “Closer,” “Does It,” “That Girl,” “Bad Luck,” “Hotwired,” and “Car.”
