The sights and sounds of Atlantic City’s casinos are nothing short of astonishing. With breathtaking casino architecture, colorful lights illuminating the casino floor, and the faint scent of cigarette smoke in the air, the nightlife in AC is always vibrant. Among these casinos is The Hard Rock Casino, renowned for hosting a diverse range of live performances at the famous Etess Arena. On a chilly March evening, fans eagerly anticipated one of these performances, marking the tour’s second stop since its kickoff in Bethlehem, PA on March 21st. With tickets in hand, fans lined up, ready to witness three powerful bands take the stage under one roof for an epic night of mind-blowing performances.
Catch Your Breath
Kicking off the evening was none other than Catch Your Breath, hailing from Austin, Texas. This fresh, burgeoning hard rock band consists of vocalist Josh, guitarist Logan (filling in for Teddy), bassist Cianan, and drummer Onell. Catch Your Breath injects a unique mix of synth soundscaping elements, imaginative production, and refined songwriting, delivering an intense amount of emotion. Starting their set around 8 PM with their ruthless track “Savages,” the band set the stage ablaze. Drenched in fog, blue lighting, and strobes, they delivered a stellar performance of their opening song. With heart-pounding bass drops, hair-raising vocals, and super crunchy guitar riffs, Catch Your Breath left the audience breathless. During their 30-minute set, the band captivated the crowd with hits like “Criminal,” “Ricochet,” “21 Gun Salute,” and “Shame On Me.” Fans chanted along to the lyrics, and the acoustics in the Etess Arena were perfect, providing crisp, clear sound that wasn’t overwhelmingly loud, making for a comfortable listening experience. The ambient and electric lighting added to the energy, and vocalist Josh’s dynamic stage presence, along with the band’s contagious energy, kept fans fully engaged. Daughtry
After a 20-minute intermission, superstar powerhouse group Daughtry took the stage around 8:50 PM. Stemming from McLeansville, North Carolina, former American Idol contestant Chris Daughtry fronts the band, joined by members Josh Steely on lead guitar, Brian Craddock on guitar, Elvio Fernandes on keys/backing vocals/guitar, and Joey Barnes on drums. Starting their set with the song “Changes Are Coming,” they unleashed a firestorm of powerful vocals and phenomenal musicianship. An astonishing light show filled the arena with colorful ambient lighting and strobes. Daughtry stunned fans with a stunning intimate acoustic cover of Deftones’ “Change” (In the House of Flies) and an explosive performance of Journey’s hit song “Separate Ways” (Worlds Apart), flawlessly hitting every note. The crowd was fired up, capturing the epic concert on their cellphones. The sound was stellar, filling the arena with chest-thumping hard rock anthems, and every
song was executed perfectly with Daughtry’s signature style and flair. Throughout their set, they played songs like “Crashed,” “Waiting for Superman,” and even performed their newest song “Pieces” for the second time on tour. “Pieces,” Daughtry’s newest single, debuted on SiriusXM Octane on March 21st. Breaking Benjamin
Another 20-minute intermission gave fans time to regroup and grab drink refills for the headliners, Breaking Benjamin. Stemming from Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, the band consists of Benjamin Burnley on lead vocals/guitar, Jasen Rauch on lead guitar/programming, Keith Wallen on rhythm guitar/backing vocals, Aaron Bruch on bass/backing vocals, and Shaun Foist on drums/programming. With a curtain hanging in front of the stage, fans eagerly awaited one of the most anticipated shows of the year. The curtain dropped around 10:20 PM, revealing the star of the night, Little Ben, aka “Cheech,” son of lead vocalist Benjamin Burnley. At just ten years old, Cheech rocked an ESP LTD BB600 Black Sunburst Baritone guitar just like his dad and graced the crowd with his crisp vocals and amazing stage presence during their opening song “Failure.” Born in Atlantic City, NJ, Burnley made everyone feel like they were attending a massive family reunion. The band played many older songs as expected, including hits like “Red Cold River,” “Evil Angel,” “Blow Me Away,” “Follow,” “Angels Fall,” and “Dance with The Devil.” Breaking
Benjamin delivered an electrifying, super tight performance, complete with ambient lighting, crisp sound, on-point timing, breathtaking melodies, and raw emotion conveyed through lyrics and instruments. Just when fans thought the show couldn’t get any better, Chris Daughtry unexpectedly joined Breaking Benjamin on stage to perform the song “Breath” in a powerful performance by two amazing rock vocalists, creating a moment to remember. The band continued to blast the crowd with more songs, including “Polyamorous,” “Without You,” “Dear Agony,” “I Will Not Bow,” and “Had Enough,” playing just over an hour set without a hitch. They closed out the show with the fan-favorite “Diary of Jane.” This was an amazing show with the perfect lineup of super talented acts, and Breaking Benjamin never ceases to amaze on stage.
