Blues, Rock, and Soul: Samantha Fish and Jesse Dayton’s Birmingham Night of Musical Fusion. Gig review.

As the night unfurled, an electrifying sense of anticipation filled the air. Samantha, Jesse, and their exceptionally talented band took center stage, making an unspoken promise to the eager crowd that they were in for a musical treat of epic proportions. They were about to embark on a journey through their entire album, sprinkled with a selection of tracks from last year’s Stardust Sessions EP, soulful solo performances, and unexpected cover renditions, Kicking off with a cover of MC5’s “Kick out the Jams “. What followed was nothing short of magical, a mesmerizing blend of blues, rock, country, and boogie – a true Southern-style sonic extravaganza.
Trying to describe how phenomenal Samantha Fish is in a live performance is like trying to capture lightning in a bottle. If you’ve only ever experienced her through the radio waves or your Spotify playlists, you’re in for a revelation. In her performances, she turns it up to 11, and with Jesse Dayton in the mix, they reached an entirely new level of musical transcendence.

Even if you’ve never heard of Samantha Fish and Jesse Dayton, this gig would still be the musical experience of a lifetime. The intensity, the energy, and the sheer brilliance on display would leave anyone in awe.
I had the privilege of witnessing Samantha Fish’s live performance for the first time at Nottingham Rock City last year, and I can still feel the reverberations of her talent. So when the opportunity to cover this gig came my way, I couldn’t resist.
The chemistry between these two artists was palpable, their guitar and vocal styles weaving together seamlessly. As they engaged in call-and-response guitar solos, they created pure magic. Samantha and Jesse are both at the pinnacle of their craft, matching the skill of any guitarist you’ll ever see.
“Samantha Fish and Jesse Dayton: Where Blues Virtuosity Meets Rock Mastery“

Their acoustic rendition of Townes Van Zandt’s “I’ll Be Here In the Morning” was nothing short of sublime, stirring deep emotions in the crowd. Their voices, one soaring and the other resonant, blended in perfect harmony, leaving the audience yearning for more.
“Baby’s Long Gone” continued to captivate with its soulful country blues, and as the band returned with electric guitars, Samantha’s vocals soared to extraordinary heights. The crowd couldn’t help but shower her with appreciation for her singing, guitar virtuosity, and captivating compositions. “No Apology,” a standout from the Death Wish Blues album, made an indelible mark, and Samantha’s rendition of Screamin’ Jay Hawkins’ “I Put A Spell On You” was just breathtaking, showcasing her remarkable talent. The high notes she effortlessly reached and the unaccompanied ending left the crowd in sheer awe.

The band briefly exited the stage, but there was never any doubt that an encore was in store. This was one of those gigs that you wished would never end. You may see a great show in your lifetime, but I guarantee you won’t see one better than this.
