Megadeth Let There Be Shred Single Out Now
Thrash legends Megadeth roar into their farewell era with “Let There Be Shred!,” the third single from their self-titled final studio album, released December 19, 2025. Directed by Keith Leman (who helmed “I Don’t Care”), the video blends blistering live performance with Dave Mustaine in an MMA showdown – tribute to sensei Benny “The Jet” Urquidez and professor Reggie Almieda. As Mustaine declares: “When Megadeth started we said we would be fast and furious… This song is fast and furious. Know it! It has a very hooky chorus… In the end, we got the balance of shredding and ass kicking just right!”
The track – a “tsunami of sound” with jaw-dropping riffs – follows “Tipping Point” (Oct 3) and “I Don’t Care” (Nov 14), building to the Jan 23, 2026 album via Tradecraft/BLKIIBLK. Bonus: Reimagined “Ride the Lightning” (Mustaine co-wrote for Metallica). Pre-order now; events ramp up for the end.
Let There Be Shred: Single & Video Breakdown
Rapid-fire thrash manifesto opens with lyrics: “On the day I was born, a guitar in my hands / The heavens rumbled a thunderous command.” Hooky chorus demands air guitar/headbanging. Stream: Major platforms
