A Brief History of AC/DC: From Scotland to Stadiums

AC/DC started in Scotland with brothers Angus and Malcolm Young (born 1955 and 1953), who moved to Australia in 1963. The band formed in Sydney, 1973, with Bon Scott (Australian, born 1946) on vocals after Dave Evans. High Voltage (1975) launched them, blending blues rock with high-energy riffs. Bon’s death in 1980 led to Brian Johnson (from Gateshead, UK, born 1947) joining for Back in Black—the best-selling album ever by a hard rock band (50M+ copies). Malcolm retired in 2014 due to dementia, replaced by nephew Stevie Young. Power Up (2020) honored Malcolm, hitting #1 in 21 countries. With 150 million albums sold, AC/DC remain timeless—Angus‘ schoolboy uniform is as iconic as their sound.

  • Hihgway to Hell is the album that opened for AC/DC worldwide audience. Sudenly band was recognice
every where as superstar. And specially vocal of Bone Scott which was the seal of his career with the band, unfortunately, prematurely interrupted by his death. No doubt next album is also great and probably bigger comercialy succes, but as a whole HTH it’s a bit better for me, more melodic and more friendly if i may say so. Of course, my assessment is certainly subjective. Maybe someone will say that High Voltage or Let there be rock.,, Certainly formula AC/DC will remain in the history of rock music as one of the most recognizable and exciting.
