Foo Fighters Launch New Era with ‘Today’s Song’ to Mark 30th Anniversary
Foo Fighters have officially kicked off their 30th anniversary celebrations with the release of a brand-new single, Today’s Song—a soaring, three-minute-fifteen-second anthem that channels the band’s signature blend of melodic grit and emotional resonance.
Released on July 2nd, Today’s Song is the first new material from the band since 2023’s But Here We Are, and it arrives as a tribute to the journey that began with their 1995 debut. The track opens with a gentle melodic intro before erupting into a crescendo of optimism and urgency, anchored by the lyric: “I woke today / Screaming for change…”.
Dave Grohl’s accompanying message to fans is a heartfelt reflection on the band’s evolution, acknowledging both triumphs and tragedies. He pays tribute to former members William Goldsmith, Franz Stahl, and Josh Freese, and delivers a moving homage to the late Taylor Hawkins: “Your name is spoken every day… you are still in everything we do, everywhere we go, forever.”
The single’s artwork, created by Grohl’s daughter Harper, adds a personal touch to the release, reinforcing the familial spirit that has long defined the Foo Fighters’ ethos.

The current lineup—Grohl, Nate Mendel, Pat Smear, Chris Shiflett, and Rami Jaffee—will take Today’s Song on the road this autumn, with international tour dates confirmed for Jakarta, Singapore, Tokyo, Osaka, and Mexico City. Tickets are available via foofighters.com.
Today’s Song isn’t just a celebration of longevity—it’s a declaration of intent. With themes of perseverance, unity, and transformation, the track signals a new chapter for the Foo Fighters, one that honors the past while charging headlong into the future.
Whether you’ve been with them since the garage days or just hopped on the bandwagon, this release is a reminder of why the Foo Fighters remain one of rock’s most enduring forces.
