Buckcherry Roar Like Thunder Album Review: A Thunderous Rock Triumph 10/10

buckcherry logo

Buckcherry, the unstoppable rock titans, drop their eleventh studio album, Roar Like Thunder, on June 13, 2025, and it’s an absolute killer from start to finish. We at Rocknews.co.uk were gutted to miss their last UK tour—canceled twice due to illness—but this album captures their live-wire energy in spades. Recorded at Sienna Recording Studios in Nashville with producer Marti Frederiksen (Aerosmith, Mötley Crüe) and mastered by Anthony Focx (Metallica, Aerosmith), Roar Like Thunder showcases a band that’s been rocking since 1999 yet still delivers with jaw-dropping intensity. Prepare to have this on repeat all summer!

Roar Like Thunder: A Track-by-Track Thunderbolt

This album is a relentless rock assault, with every track hitting harder than the last. Standouts include:

  • I Go Boom – Horns swell with swagger, igniting the album with explosive energy.
  • Blackout – Riffs that drip with honeyed groove, perfect for late-night vibes.
  • Come On – This isn’t just like AC/DC; it is AC/DC with Josh Todd’s distinct vocals swapped in. The thunderous stomp and razor-sharp riffs could’ve been pulled straight from Back in Black—it’s a headbanger’s dream.
  • Roar Like Thunder – The title track races like a runaway train, brimming with frantic rhythm and grit.

Josh Todd’s vocals, honed by daily practice since the band’s 1999 debut, remain a force of nature, while guitarist Stevie Dacanay’s riffs drive the album’s “pure, uncut rock’n’roll” vibe, as he puts it. Todd adds, “It grooves, it thumps, and there’s subject matter everyone can relate to—strap in and enjoy the ride.” After 26 years, how a band can drop an album this good is nothing short of incredible.

Buckcherry’s Unstoppable Journey

Buckcherry never stops they’ve been on fire in the 2020s. Hellbound (2021) marked their first UK Top 40 album, Vol. 10 (2024) hit #4 on the UK Rock and Metal Album Chart, and the 20th anniversary reissue of 15 (2025) debuted at #5 on the same chart with bonus tracks and a global vinyl release. Their 2024 tours with Steel Panther and Alice Cooper sold out, proving their live dominance. Roar Like Thunder bottles that stage energy, making it a must-hear for rock fans.

This Album Rules

Roar Like Thunder is a triumph that’ll keep your speakers blazing. Come On channels AC/DC’s spirit with a fresh vocal edge, while the entire album flows with an intensity that’s rare for a band this deep into their career.
