The focus track “Wake Me” is a soul-stirring ballad about the heartache of fading love. Lead vocalist Ella Tepponen describes it as, “a powerful and frail song layered with acoustic guitars and keys, capturing the pain of a relationship’s end while clinging to hope.”
Guitarist Tomi Julkunen adds, “The main reason for forming Ginger Evil was to have a safe space where the song is the boss – not the production, not the charts. If someone else likes it, that’s a bonus.”

🎤 The Story Behind Ginger Evil
Formed from the ashes of Moonshine Inc. in Helsinki, Finland, the band evolved after guitarist Tomi Julkunen and bassist Veli Palevaara spent years performing with The Milestones, even sharing stages with Deep Purple and Whitesnake. The addition of powerhouse vocalist Ella Tepponen and drummer Toni Mustonen completed the lineup, blending their love of classic and modern rock.
Legendary producer Richard Stanley (The Who) was so inspired by their demos, he contributed lyrics to the project. With production handled by Teemu Aalto (Insomnium) and mastering by Grammy-nominated Svante Forsbäck (Rammstein, Volbeat), the album is a sonic powerhouse.
