Samantha Fish: New Album Paper Doll Set to Redefine Rock & Blues

Samantha Fish, one of the most electrifying guitarists of her generation, continues to captivate audiences worldwide with her raw energy, powerhouse performances, and signature blend of rock and soul. Renowned for her expressive guitar work and emotionally charged vocals, Fish skyrocketed to the top with Death Wish Blues (2023), which hit #1 on the Billboard Blues Chart, earned her a Grammy nomination, and led to high-profile tours supporting The Rolling Stones, Jon Spencer, Slash, and more.

Now, in 2024, Samantha Fish is back with her boldest album yet—Paper Doll (out April 25 via Rounder Records). Produced by Detroit garage-rock legend Bobby Harlow (The Go), with a guest appearance from Mick Collins (The Gories), this new record is a fearless deep dive into themes of love, loss, and self-discovery. “I’ve finally found my voice in a studio setting,” says Fish. “With this record, I took everything I had and slammed it right on the table.”

A Raw, Live Energy Like Never Before

Tracked between The Orb (Austin, TX) and Savannah Studios (Los Angeles, CA) during a relentless touring schedule, Paper Doll captures the untamed fire of Fish’s legendary live performances. The album’s 9 tracks feature her touring bandmates Ron Johnson (bass), Jamie Douglass (drums), and Mickey Finn (keys), bringing a raw and urgent energy to every note.

New Single “Sweet Southern Sounds” Out Now

Leading the album rollout is “Sweet Southern Sounds”, co-written with New Orleans singer-songwriter Anders Osborne. With smoldering guitar riffs and lush organ melodies, the song is a deeply personal reflection on the struggles of balancing passion and personal relationships.

“It’s an anthem about being on the road and feeling guilty about not prioritizing the people in your life,” explains Fish. “There’s definitely a tinge of heartache to that song.”
