Skindred Teams Up with Newport County AFC for a Vibrant Kit Celebrating Diversity
Skindred, the legendary Welsh rock band known for their genre-blending sound, has partnered with Newport County AFC, VX3, and Lover’s F.C. to create a limited-edition football shirt. This one-of-a-kind kit celebrates Newport’s rich West Indian and multicultural heritage, showcasing the city’s unity and creative spirit through its bold, Caribbean-inspired design.
A Community-Driven Collaboration
The collaboration brings together key figures from Newport’s cultural and sporting scenes. Skindred’s frontman Benji Webbe, a proud Newport native, shared his excitement about the project:

Neal Heard, Creative Director of Lover’s F.C. and lifelong Newport County supporter, also emphasized the importance of celebrating the city’s stories and diversity. Newport County players of West Indian heritage—Courtney Baker-Richardson, Kyle Jameson, and Kyle Hudlin—participated in the kit launch, further tying the design to the local community.

The kit launch was rooted in authenticity, capturing Newport’s vibrant cultural tapestry. The campaign shoot featured local landmarks such as KRIMINAL Records and The Ship and Pilot pub, located in Pillgwenlly, the heart of Newport’s multicultural community.

The Skindred shirt will be available from December 4th at Newport County’s club shop, at matchday stadium stores, and online at Newport County’s Shop. The shirt will make its on-pitch debut during Newport County’s match against Carlisle on December 7th.
