Dea Matrona Dazzles Nottingham. A Night of Powerful Vocals and Engaging Stage Presence at Rock City
Last night, Dea Matrona graced the stage at Nottingham’s Rock City, delivering a great performance that left the crowd buzzing. Their setlist blended original hits with a few surprises that showcased their versatility and talent.
“Stamp on It,” immediately set the tone for their set. The crowd enthusiastically engaging with the band clapping and singing along to “Get My Mind Off” and “Stuck on You.” Both songs highlighting the band’s knack for crafting infectious melodies and powerful lyrics.
Halfway through the set Dea Matrona performed a brilliant cover of Fleetwood Mac’s “Oh Well.” The girl’s rendition was a respectful nod to the original whilst allowing their unique style to shine through. Their version of the classic song earning them roaring applause from the audience.
“Black Rain” and “So Damn Dangerous” followed, each song building on the momentum and showcasing the band’s rock prowess. The keen-eyed members of the crowd will have seen their drummer drop his drumstick during “So Damn Dangerous,” his face was a picture as the grabbed for the stick.
Although Dea Matrona has played in Nottingham several times before, it seemed that no one in the crowd had seen them live until last night. It was great to see how they captured the crowd’s attention, which was evident from the amount of people that could be seen clapping and singing along.
The girls introduced “Glory Glory” with a short story of their friendship and their failed attempt at winning their schools talent contest. It is obvious to see the connection between them is strong. The acoustic version of “Glory Glory,” continued this intimate moment. The stripped-down arrangement allowed the band’s vocal harmonies to shine, creating a poignant connection with the audience.
The night concluded with “Red Button,” leaving a positively entertained crowd which has surely gained a few more fans for Dea Matrona. The performance at Rock City cementing their growing reputation as a must-see live act.
