John Corabi Reunites with The Dead Daisies for a High-Energy Night at Rock City

Nottingham’s Rock City is the place to be tonight as The Dead Daisies storm the stage, marking the triumphant return of John Corabi as their lead singer. The Nottingham venue is packed to the brim with a hyped-up crowd eager to see the show.

The Daisies wasted no time, kicking off the night with “Light ‘Em Up,” the title track from their latest album. Corabi’s gritty vocals immediately grabs the crowd’s attention, setting the stage for a night of pure rock ‘n’ roll mayhem. Following up with “Rise Up,” the band keep the energy levels sky-high, with Doug Aldrich’s searing guitar riffs and David Lowy’s rock-solid rhythm guitar creating a sonic assault that reverberates through the venue.

One of the standout moments of the night is their blistering cover of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Fortunate Son.” The Daisies inject their own hard rock flair into this classic, with Corabi’s powerful voice adding a new layer of intensity. The crowd roared in approval, and the energy only escalated from there. Another fantastic cover is the rendition of “Midnight Moses,” originally by The Sensational Alex Harvey Band. The band’s raw and energetic performance, driven by Tommy Clufetos thunderous drumming, had the audience in a frenzy.

The Daisies setlist is a perfect blend of new material and fan favourites. Tracks from their latest album, “Light ‘Em Up,” were met with enthusiastic cheers. “I Wanna Be Your Bitch” had the crowd singing along to its infectious chorus, while “Take a Long Line” showcased the band’s tight musicianship and Aldrich’s blistering solos. “I’m Gonna Ride” was another crowd-pleaser, with its driving rhythm and anthemic chorus getting everyone on their feet.

The bands production quality at Rock City is nothing short of spectacular. The sound was crisp and powerful, making it feel like a stadium show in an intimate setting. The lighting is equally impressive, with vibrant colours and dynamic effects that perfectly complemented the show. And the huge screen with its complement of video continually playing at the back of the stage was amazing.

Keeping it old school, the band returned for an encore that left the audience begging for more. They delivered a rousing performance of “Long Way to Go,” with the crowd singing every word. The final song of the night is a high-octane cover of The Beatles’ “Helter Skelter.” The Dead Daisies’ version was loud, fast, and full of energy, providing a fitting end to an unforgettable show. The only small criticism I have, and it is small, they should have swapped the two encore songs for a better finish.

Throughout the performance, it’s clear that the band are having as much fun as the audience. Corabi’s return has breathed new life into The Dead Daisies, and his chemistry with the rest of the band is undeniable. The crowd was fully engaged from start to finish, singing, dancing along and cheering for more.

The Dead Daisies’ gig at Nottingham’s Rock City is a masterclass in hard rock performance. With John Corabi back at the helm, the band delivered a show that was both powerful and memorable. The combination of great sound, stunning lighting, and an enthusiastic crowd made for a brilliant night.
