The Virginmarys Return with Powerful New Single and Announce 2024 Tour Dates

If you haven’t already heard “Northwest Coast,” the latest single from Macclesfield’s power rock duo The Virginmarys, it’s definitely one to watch out for. This track has been making waves since its release, and it’s a perfect precursor to their upcoming album, The House Beyond The Fires, set to drop on November 1st, 2024. You can watch the official video now and pre-order the album today!

“Northwest Coast” captures the essence of the Northwest of England with poetic lyrics by frontman Ally Dickaty, complemented by the raw groove of his guitar and the ferocious drumming of Danny Dolan. Ally describes the track as “a perfect glimpse of all that’s to come,” highlighting its standout riff and genre-fusing elements. Lyrically, it’s a tongue-in-cheek homage to the gritty beauty of their homeland.
This upcoming album marks The Virginmarys’ first release since reforming as a two-piece in 2021. With production by Dave Draper (Terrorvision, The Wildhearts) and mixing/mastering by Karl Daniel Lidén (Dozer, Greenleaf), the album promises to deliver the same intensity as their live performances. Ally reflects, “We’ve really turned a corner with this album,” capturing their renowned power and energy in every track.
The album holds significant meaning for the band, serving as a tribute to Danny’s late father, Tommy Dolan. The title, The House Beyond The Fires, references Tommy’s beloved shop, The House of Fires, acknowledging his enduring influence and support. Ally shares, “It’s difficult to articulate how much he meant to us and how deep the grief runs within all who loved him.”
Six years in the making, The House Beyond The Fires is a worthy successor to their Top 10 “Heatseekers” charting album, Northern Sun Sessions. The new album offers anthemic, hard-hitting alt/rock tracks with a punk edge, from the powerful “Lights Go Down” to the reflective “Dance To The City,” which revisits Manchester’s music scene and pays homage to Tommy Dolan.

In support of their new album, The Virginmarys have announced a 19-date headline tour across the UK and Europe, starting in their hometown of Macclesfield and concluding in London. This follows their recent tours with Massive Wagons, Sisters of Mercy, and Ugly Kid Joe.
