A Night of Energetic Blues Rock: Whisky Stain’s Unforgettable Performance at Rock City
Blues Rock as good as it gets!
Robert Lavington and Luke Grainger (Whisky Stain)
I had the pleasure of meeting Robert Lavington and Luke Grainger, aka “Whisky Stain”, at Rock City in Nottingham where they performed following the release of their two new singles, “Do What You Came For” and “My New Religion”. During the soundcheck, I had a chance to chat with the band and take some photos outside the iconic Rock City in Nottingham. The band has been together for 13 years and is now based in Nottingham.
They have been busy creating new material and are excited to get back into regular gigging following the release of their new singles. Drummer Luke Grainger recently relocated to Nottingham from London, making it easier for the band to record and perform live more often. The gig was held in the Beta room at Rock City and was packed with fans who travelled from as far as Lincoln and London to see the band.

I have been listening to their songs for a while and love their energetic, polished Blues Rock vibe. Robert is an extremely talented guitarist and bass player with a perfect voice for the Blues Rock songs that he writes with Luke, the band’s very talented drummer. Their performance was natural and engaging from the first note, and the band’s interaction with the fans was just perfect for the Beta Room at Rock City. The atmosphere was buzzing, helped by their support band “2079” who got the crowd warmed up.
Their new single “Do What You Came For” was met with high praise from the crowd. It’s easy to see why, and I look forward to seeing where it gets in the charts because, in my mind, it should be an instant hit. To add to the excitement of the band performing their new single live, we were joined by two gigantic T-Rex Dinosaurs who came to strut their stuff among the crowd. It was hilarious to see. Another personal favorite of mine is “My New Religion,” which seems to be on constant play. To be honest, every single song they performed was brilliant.
If you get the opportunity to see these guys live, then do so. You will not regret it!
