Hypnosaur Unleashes Jurassic Punk in Latest EP “Undead Invaders Born to Die in a Maze”
Hypnosaur, the Warsaw-based quartet known for their fusion of rock and roll with a Scandinavian flair, has recently dropped their second EP, “Undead Invaders Born to Die in a Maze.” Following their well-received albums “Doomsday” (2022) and “Illusion” (2019), this EP showcases the band’s evolution and commitment to their unique sound.
Mixed by Haldor Grunberg of Satanic Audio, who boasts a portfolio with renowned artists like Behemoth, Dopelord, Me And That Man, and Belzebong, the EP carries a heavy and hard-hitting sonic quality. The graphics, crafted by Rafał Wechterowicz (TOO MANY SKULLS), renowned for his work with Slayer, Ghost, Anthrax, Ozzy Osbourne, Mastodon, Machine Head, and Kreator, add a visually captivating layer to the release.
The EP, “Undead Invaders Born to Die in a Maze,” comprises four tracks that take the listener on a wild journey through the unique realm of Hypnosaur’s jurassic punk. The first track, ‘Undead,’ stands out as the heaviest in the collection, showcasing the band’s prowess in delivering powerful and intense sounds. Following this is ‘Inwazja z Plutona’ (Invasion from Pluto), a cover of a Kombi (Polish synth-pop legends) song from 1983. Accompanied by a video paying homage to classic sci-fi movies, this track adds a nostalgic twist to the EP.
‘Born to Die,’ the third track, continues the sonic journey with its compelling rhythm and gripping vocals. Finally, ‘The Maze’ wraps up the EP with an outstanding retro game-like video, reminiscent of classics like Wolfenstein 3D, Doom, or Quake. Together, these four tracks create a cohesive musical experience in “Undead Invaders Born to Die in a Maze.”
Hypnosaur, comprised of Bartosz Kulczycki (lead vocals and keyboards), Michał Siedlecki (backing vocals and guitar), Marcin Jastrzębski (bass), and Marcin Szóstakowski (drums), brings a refreshing and energetic approach to their genre. The EP not only showcases their musical prowess but also their dedication to creating a complete sensory experience, with visuals and videos transporting audiences into the world of their inspirations – a blend of sci-fi and horror grindhouse low-budget movies, comic books, and video games, both classic and contemporary.
