Fozzy’s Rock Extravaganza: Unicorns, Dry Ice, and Pro Wrestling Swagger! Rock City Gig Review
Rock City witnessed a night of wild rock as Fozzy, with support from The Hot Damn! and Pistols at Dawn, took the stage by storm. The evening promised chaos, and chaos it delivered.
Pistols at Dawn
First up it’s Pistols at Dawn, all the way from Atlanta, Georgia. The first thing we hear is a ripping guitar solo coming over the speakers with no band on stage. Then, out steps the guitarist with a guitar lit up with a red border.
These hungry rockers exploded onto the stage with a ripping guitar solos, setting the tone for a night of mayhem. Their hard rock set, spiced up with a touch of Rage Against the Machine, proved they are a band to keep a keen eye on.
The Hot Damn!
Next up it’s The Hot Damn: No strangers to the Rock City scene, this is a band we have been following and championing for many years now, ever since we first saw them at Underworld in Camden. The Hot Damn brought their trademark fun, complete with two full-sized unicorns. Laurie spun and grooved, Lzi laid down killer bass lines, and Josie, the smallest drummer in history, pounded the skins like a pro. Gill’s vocals were on point, especially during the famous Hot Damn twist on “(Oh Lord Won’t You Buy Me A) Mercedes Benz.”
A tumble was taken, blamed on being “pissed too early,” but no harm done. With hits like the brilliant new song “Damn! Damn! Damn! Damn!” and the now classic “I Didn’t Like You Anyway,” they left the crowd hungry for more.
At one point, the audience started chanting “oowws” back to the band, which stuck for the rest of the set. This band never disappoints, and we can’t wait to see what comes next.
Fozzy
Last up headlining the night was Fozzy, and if you haven’t seen a Fozzy show, you’re missing out. Chris Jericho, the frontman, also happens to be a pro wrestler, and the band’s energy matched the intensity of a wrestling match. Starting as an Ozzy tribute called Fozzy Osbourne, Fozzy has now evolved into a force of their own. Three songs in, and Chris was wielding a gun, shooting dry ice into the audience – a true “take no prisoners” move.
The crowd couldn’t resist chanting “Fozzy, Fozzy, Fozzy” between songs. A few songs in and I feel something on my shoulder, I turn around to see Rich with his foot on my shoulder, a perfect opportunity to capturing the perfect shot.
A surprise cover of “Relax” by Frankie Goes to Hollywood added a twist, proving Fozzy’s versatility.

RELAX
Chris Jericho shared some history, noting that Rock City was the site of their first ever UK gig, in the Beta downstairs to just a handful of people. A guitar duel between Rich and Billy stole the stage, leaving everyone in awe. The encore, featuring the classic “Judas” and a blistering cover of Ramones’ “Hey Ho Let’s Go,” turned the venue into a singing battleground with the audience responding to Chris’ call and response.
In conclusion, Fozzy’s performance was nothing short of amazing. If you missed them this time, make sure to catch them next time they roll into town. Believe me, you’ll be a fan before the night is over. What a night, how often do you get unicorns, dry ice, and a pro wrestler leading a rock band in one spectacular show?
