ZOMBI RELEASE “BODIES IN THE FLOTSAM” IN SECOND PREVIEW OF FORTH COMING ALBUM: INJECT (MARCH 22, RELAPSE RECORDS)

Steve Moore, reflecting on the 3-minute track, describes it as embodying the essence of “classic Zombi,” reminiscent of their early 2000s style. The composition features a stripped-down arrangement, consisting solely of drums, eight-string bass, and synth, without any programmed or sequenced elements.

Prior to this, the band had dropped “The Post-Atomic Horror,” a track noted by Revolver for its heavier feel compared to the past works of Steve Moore and AE Paterra. The new album showcases a more pronounced metal influence, marking a departure from their usual blend of space-rock, prog, doom-metal, and ’70s film score eeriness.

Self-produced by Moore and Paterra, “Direct Inject” also includes contributions from guest percussionist Jeff Gretz (Zao/From Autumn To Ashes) and guitarist Phil Manley (Trans Am).

Moore shared insights into the album’s creation process, detailing a week-long recording session in Clearfield, PA, following a tour with The Sword in 2022. The band improvised daily, shaping ideas that were later refined in Albany and Chicago. Final drum tracks were recorded in Clearfield, while the remaining elements were captured at Moore’s home studio.

Pre-orders for the album are available, offering limited-edition vinyl variants, CDs, and digital formats through the Relapse Records website.
