Irish Legends Therapy? Rock Tiny Sheffield Venue with Latest Album

WITHOUT question Irish legends Therapy? are one of the finest bands to walk this planet so after thirty odd years it surprises me that they’re only playing this tiny Sheffield venue.
Promoting their latest ten track album, Hard Cold Fire, their sixteenth I believe, this hard-working threesome opened up their Yorkshire show with They Shoot The Terrible Master, one of many from their latest product. In fact, they played more than half of Hard Cold Fire, which for me was both brave and smart, giving the audience value and a varied show instead of just playing the hits. Note to other bands out there.

Granted, lighting was average and with the backdrop being black and the band all in black, some colour would’ve pleased the eye. That said, the crowd lapped up Teeth Grinder, Diane, yet still showed their respect and support to Therapy? who’ve never given up on their goals. Drumming machine Neil Cooper from Derby played with passion and power, complimenting bassist Michael McKeegan and vocalist/guitarist Andy Cairns who eventually bid us goodnight with fan favourites Screamager and Nowhere which closed the night in style.
Intermit it may have been with only around 700 or so in, I’m hoping support for them in Europe is far stronger as this band have more than accomplished the ground work, have talent by the bucket load and entertain at the highest level.
For the record, the next time they come knocking, do your duty, get out there and start rocking.
